Bad choice?

Bought a Hibore XL 10.5 RH with a gold standard shaft in stiff flex.

Kept hitting it very high and right even with its default closed face. It feels as if im swinging it on target.

Guy at golf shop told me that high could be flex but right was bad swing.

Had my swing speed recorded at 108-118 with an aggressive tempo (can really feel im in my thirties...ouch, my back!).

Know my swing isn't smooth but it feels natural to me.

 

Ordered a red x-flex shaft.

Am i doing the right thing?

Isn't too soft a flex normally meant to go left?

My normal miss is a hook.

 

Love the clubhead itself so i hope this will work out.

You're probably right going stiffer.

 

Too soft of a shaft sometimes creates a situation where the shaft is loaded but hasn't fully kicked back when striking the ball.

Basically it's still loaded a bit at impact. This load means bend which keeps the face open. You also lose distance.

Weak right.

 

Give the X a try.

 

 

 

Disclaimer: There are people on here that know way way way way way way more than I.....and not seeing your swing always throws a wrench into things. i.e. This is my guess.

I agree with the above. If the shaft unloads early, you will probably hook it left, but if the shaft is still loaded at impact, you are more likely to hit a weak shot to the right.

 

My swingspeed is lower than yours (about 105) and I use stiff. With some shafts, I even prefer X-stiff for control to prevent what's happening to you.

 

The Fit on Gold has a weaker tip and lower kickpoint than the Fit on Red. By switching to the red, it should lower your ball flight and help to get rid of the high, weak, right shots when you make a good swing. By going to the red X-stiff, you may lose a few yards from a perfect shot with each shaft, but your average should go up because of the consistancy.

Thanks for the quick replies. Shaft still loaded at impact sounds wierd but maybe thats it.

Must admit that i really wanted to like the club and i always wanted a higher lofted driver that i could control better.

Envy those smooth swingers who, with a rancho relaxo swing, just seem to fly it out there, while im stuck preferring my 3 iron :beruo:

It's really more about the tansition.

If it's sharp the shaft loads a bunch (S/X). Smooth = not as much ®.

 

It's timing really and getting that shaft to kick at the right time.

 

Prediction:

 

Stiffer shaft will be more accurate for you.

You'll love the higher loft.
