Cobra & Diamana a good combination?

Hello,

I really like the deep face that comes with the Cobra Drivers. I also like the added confidence that I get from the larger drivers.

My perfect driver would be something akin to the Cobra LD F 8.5 loft and maybe 2 degrees open with either a Whiteboard 85x or a Blueboard 105x cut to 43.5 or 44 inches. Unfortunately the LD F comes with a slightly closed face and only starts at 9.5 degrees... so what are my options....

I could go for the Cobra Pro Speed D which does come in an 8.5 I think. I do however prefer the larger head.

So my questions are... what is the hozel size of the Cobra drivers? Is it possible to shim the shaft such that I could get the LD F to be maybe a degree or two open? Do you think there would be much difference in the spin generated between these two drivers?

My swing speed I believe is around 115. I like to tee the ball as high as possible - just works well for me. So getting a good launch angle is not a problem - I just get a bit too much spin. So am hoping the shaft will help this out.

Also I am based in Australia. Are there any clubmakers out there that would be willing to put a club like this together for me and ship it to Australia??

I have a cobra Pro Speed D at 9.5 the hosel is a .335 tip and is only about an inch deep. i also have a 115 swing speed and also hit the ball high and get way to much back spin. ive played the stock proto 65 stiff, a v2 76g X flex, and didnt really like them that much. But i found a shaft that works well. the Fujikura Vista Tour Series 60 X flex. i took out of a titleist 975 bore through that played at 45". i had to tip it around 2 inches if i remeber correctly so the shaft with no finish wasn't exposed. it now plays a 44" and i hit the ball with a medium trajectory and have very little spin and no more balloons. i think i gained 10 to 20 yards just cause i lost that backspin. i also know that these heads set up with a square to open face, so if u hit it on the toe, it dosen't result in a big hook, just a mild one. i dont know if this helps but that is what i found

Sorry to persist with this. i have found out that both the the Diamana shafts are .335 and this matches the Cobra drivers. I am inexperienced in this and am not sure if it is possible to fit shims inside so as to open the face or whether the driver needs to be reamed out a little first?

USPS will not ship items to Australia if they are longer than 42". I have no idea why they just will not do it. Other carriers are outrageously expensive.

I have made two cobra combo's in the 8 degree lofts with the 83X diamana blue for two golfers that bomb the ball with SS in the low 120. Both seem to like the club.

 

THe last club head was closed. for the square look I would go for the smaller head
