Custom Fitting Question for new irons

Looking to buy new irons. Either the Srixon l-506 or Callaway x-forged. When I get custom fitted online for the x-forged irons I'm 1/4 inch over standard with 2 deg. upright. Now the l-506 would come standard and I would have to have them bent. According the l-506 specs they are 1/2 deg flat compared to the x-forged. So a rough guess would be they also have to be bent 2 deg. more upright since the stafts are .25 shorted than the x-forged.

Now my question is does 1/4 lenght make a differance?

The x-forged would be about $200 more if I had them custom as compared the buying standard ( ebay) and having them bent.

Also looking to try the project x shafts. Now sure what flex to get? Now my sping speed is around 95 mph with a driver. My carry is around 265 yards for a driver and max carry for an 8 irons is 160 yards. Ball flight is about med.

Currently playing Callaway x-18 pros standard with s-300 shafts.

my advice...go to a local pro and ask them to fit you and pay them the $50 or whatever it may cost....online fittings are not as accurate as going and hitting of a lie board......then if ur buying off ebay order them and have them bent....it may be a few extra bucks but well worth it when ur investing in golf clubs...

One thing is for sure, your swing speed ain't 95mph if you hit the carry distances you say. Best thing is go to a local clubfitter or pro with good reputation and get properly fit. It is well worth the extra dough.

Okay, I'm going to hit the project x shafts to determine which is the right one for me. Now I was fitted several years ago for pings and I needed a 1/4 inch longer shaft and 2 more deg. upright. Now my question is Once I find the proper shaft. Does getting the irons 1/4 longer really matter. I'm planning to get the lies changed after purchasing the irons.

If you get standard length shafts, you might need to have the heads bent even more upright to fit you properly (compared to shafts cut to 1/4" long). First decide what shaft you want in them, then decide what length you'd like to play, then have the lie angles adjusted to fit. You need to physically try these things out to know for sure.

My driver is a R7 Quad 10.5 deg with a Diamana 83 stiff shaft. Set to hit low.

I might have a chance to go to use a launch monitor this week. To get my exact specs.

I'm using a short par 4 at my home course to determine how far my ball carries. Carry is 265 to the center of the green using a pinseeker with slope. A high cut drive will carry the center of the green. A draw is about the same carry but lots more roll.

Bender,

Nothing beats a dynamic fitting. Particularly from a qualified fitter. If you have access to one spend the money. The spec should translate to any set of irons you pick.

I would not worry about 1/4 of an inch for an iron length.

I would worry about about the lie angle. That is a deminsional property you should get from the fitting.

I just contacted my rep and the 506 irons are in low to no supply. I got the last set he had. which happened to have project X's in them. I am removing them for another customer.

If you are to order the PXs (which is a great idea), go one flex less. both the standard Rifle and PX play a bit stiffer than advertized.

I'm going in the morning to a professional club fitter. All I'm looking for is what flex of project X that I need. Will have the lies adjusted when I get my new irons. Also I'm going to get my numbers for the driver on a launch monitor. So I will know my specs. Taking the R7 and my 2 old drivers. 510 tp and a Titleist 905T.

After I get my shaft flex then I will start looking for the irons. Hoping to find a new set of the Srixon's since they are the best deal right now.

Didn't have time to do anything with the driver. Swing Speed was from 88 to 90 mph using a six iron. I used a Callaway x-18 pro and a Macgregor 1025m Both have s-300 shafts. Had better results with accuracy with the x-18 pro. The club fitter said it was due to the Macgregor actually being more still than the Callaway. He not a big fan of Callaway. Tested a few other shafts and my best results with a rifle 5.5. Gave him my 7 iron 1025m and he reshafting it with the rifle 5.5 shaft for me to test.

Now I have a question If I buy a set of Srixon l-506 with the project X 5.5 shafts ( after I test the rifle) can he use these shafts to spine alighn or would I have to buy new shafts.

Also is spine alighning a big deal. thanks for any info.
