Mizuno JPX 800 vs. Wilson Ci9

Recommended Posts

I'm currently gaming Wilson Ci9 irons with a graphite shaft. I'm thinking about making a switch with the irons. I just can't stand the graphite shaft in my irons. I was seeing what y'all think about the JPX 800. I want something with good feel. I've heard Mizunos have great feel. What do y'all think? Thanks

Great irons, they have great feel for a cast club. really best feeling clubs Ive hit besides forged irons.

Not a huge distance guy, but is the distance at least comparable to the Ci9 or decent at least?

the 800's come with hot face technology allowing you to hit the ball on average 7 yards further or something like that. Yes I hit atleast a club longer with them.

I've got a set of JPX 800s I might be selling soon. Gamed them for a while and they're LONG. The only problem with that is the lofts are jacked up (PW is 44°!).

I've got Project X 6.0 shafts in them that are just too stiff for me, so I'm looking to change.

Haha! My Ci9 are the same in respect to the lofts. My PW is also 44! At least it won't be a huge change when it comes to lofts if they change.

Honestly i think the cb1's look better. but they're nice as well.

I'm trying to pick up my own set of either CB1/3 or Bridgestone J38s

Hey, I saw these in the classifieds. They're only $285. I'd be all over them if I had the money, but I thought you might want to see.

CB3s are really nice. Only downfall for me is the stock shaft (KBS Tour 90s). Great shaft but I prefer the heavier KBS Tours. One of my buddies really likes the 90s so it's one of those "to each his own" things. I think I will be selling my CB3s in the next day or so. Only used them for 5 rounds or so but I just need a different shaft. It's a shame... I regripped them with some super tacky Tacki-Mac Itomic wrap jumbos that I love.

Yeah, I'm a fan of a 90g shaft. That's one of the reasons i was interested in the CB3. That's also why I was looking at the AMP irons and a couple other irons

I recently tried out the Amp Cells, JPX825, JPX800 HD, Wilson Di11 and Cleveland HB3. All in graphite. The only one that felt like hitting a steel shaft was the HB3s. It had that same solid "clicky" feel. Not only that, it was the easiest to hit, the longest and the most accurate. It may sound paradoxical to continue with graphite but to see what I mean try and demo a Cleveland 588 Altitude. You may be very surprised. I particularly didn't get on with the Wilson - it just felt too light and kind of bleh. The JPX800 HD are excellent but they will probably be replaced in September. I imagine a light steel shaft would be nice if it's an option.

That was actually what I was thinking. Rather than changing irons, I might just reshaft them. I was thinking the Dynalite 90 or the KBS Tour 90.I just have to save up for it. It will prolly help my game because I won't have to completely adjust to a new set.

Yes I am a big fan of my Ci9s. What shaft do you have in your Ci9s. I have the FST 105 and I really like them. I also agree with your statement about the more you play the Ci9s the more you like them, I feel the same way.

I have the aldila VS Proto shafts in there right now. I'm thinking of changing to a lightish steel shaft like Dynalite 90 or KBS tour 90. I wish I woulda gotten them with the stock shaft
