NOT ENOUGH? Here some more Candy! 905R

Recommended Posts

Comparing it w/ 905S Tour issue
I personally like to have it slightly deeper face, however a beggar can't be choosy, Right? ;)

Seriously, It's deep enough for me to grow w/ it definitely.

Feel Improvement is the biggest different IMO compare w/ the S and T. It has a distinctive sound of Titleist driver and their classic shape.

I'll definitely play this club without force.

Thanks for the Pics Joe. Real nice Titleist stuff in the shop of late. Another great offering from TItleist. Bravo!!! I will bet this will perform as well as it looks.

Joe have you hit it? Sound?

68077[/snapback]

Sound is not as loud as you think they are. Like i ssaid on the previous post, it's really a distinctive Titleist sound IMO.

We, Me and Other touring pro were hitting it in my net and his comment goes pretty quick from his mouth "nice" and "finally I've feel like the old days" :help:

And from my mouth "Hmm interesting!" and "I think i want one too". ;)

Well! between both of us, we have tried and owned pretty much almost any tour issue club ever build out there, So you can't really count on our words for it. LOL!

Pretty nice looking....but I'll wait to see it in person. It will also be interesting to see how titleist's first 460cc sized driver holds up to other companies who have had drivers of that size out for a few generations now.

Joe,

A couple of questions for ya.

1. Is the 905R a neutral face and neutral weighted head?

2. How is the ball flight vs. the 905S?

Also what is your experience with changing the weighting in the 983K/905T to make them not draw biased? I have read that some shops offer the service of I guess by adding some weighting (is this where I read about the famous rat glue being used?) to counter the weighting that Titleist installed.

Thanks,

Mike

1st and second questions is impossible for me to answer it. I have no experience playing it yet as this club are not mine. They are one of the tour players club.

Rat glue changing the bias of the club?

Hmmmm! Let me put it this way, Rat glue on a summer time inside the trunk of a car can liquify to a point that it will move/run to what ever the club head laid.

Changing a bias of a club from inside the club head, especially on a big head drivers will require significant weight changes to the static weight of the head. Imagine if i put 10 grm lead tape on the toe of the driver, it will only move 1/8" toward the toe and 10 grm will change 5 swing weight point. Also the gear effect will probably start changing noticably at 8-10 gr. Lead tape is good enough or for the real crazy and fuzzy thinkerer, They can clean up the rat glue inside first and replace it w/ mixture of 24 epoxy and tungsten powder and place it to what ever bias you want to be.

IMO if we are talking about retail club, the "most" significant changes for ball flight is from shaft providing you don't have a non extreme club head ( extreme close face or offset ). For example, if you put a tip stiff, high kick and low torque shaft and installed it slightly stiffer than your swing speed...i'm almost sure you'll have a hard time turning your ball left unless if you have a swing flaws/problems.

Just my 2 cents!

I'm reading elsewhere that the 905R is tingy sounding. I hope not llike the R7 and R5 tincans (tour included).

The 905 R from what I understand is about 1/2* open, but is no weight bias in the head. Also, from what I know about the driver, the head is designed to impart a little higher flight and more spin. The original reason that not everyone switched from the 983 was that the S & T took off too much spin for some players...so they introduced a larger head and made it have more playable properties for all players...Hope the info. helps!

Joe,

Thanks for the education. I was taking a total guess on the rat glue but thr latter option is probably what they are doing. It apprears you can really do what you want with any head that like you said is not totally closed/open face.

I hit Titleist drivers the best for some reason and I would like to have a driver with a wider hitting area in the face like the 905T vs 905S. With prices dropping like flies on Ebay, I can get a 905T for < $225.00 so spending the small $$$ to have a shop "neutralize" the head might be what I need.

Thanks,

Mike
