Please help

I played a set of Titleist 690.cb with TFR 6.5 and loved the feel of the shaft but had problems with my shots ballooning. When I got a new set of irons, CG4 TC's, I had the tour van put in DGX100's to bring my ball flight down. Well, the shafts feel horrible....harsh and too stiff. I used to hit my 5 iron 195-200 and now struggle to get it out to 185. I've lost 10-15 honest yards on my irons and am losing confidence, more than anything. I play my irons 0.75" over...does that have anything to do with why these X100's feel so stiff? Would Project X be the solution? What flex?

sound like you prefer tip soft irons... look at reg rifle (non-tfr) or maybe TT Tour Concepts... PX is a butt stiff shaft ..

Try Black Gold, soft stepped X flex. They are a little more butt stiff than DG and PX, but will feel better at impact. Project X will not be the solution, might actually feel worse than X100.

Iv found Rifles to balloon aswell. They feel nice, really soft, but the flight isnt nice, i went back to Dynamic golds, alot lower ball flight that is alot more controllable. Stick with what you can control. Maybe try S400s.... Dont feel like your giving into your ego going to a weaker shaft, it might help! Good luck

PX plays stiffer than DG. IMO it feels harsher too. I have to drop down to a 5.0 in PX to get a similar feel to S300. That's why I suggested soft stepping BG X. I will often recommend BG to more aggressive swingers.

The Project X shaft was actually designed for players with a very high swing speed.

 

It's one of the few shafts that I hate in all flexes - and my driver speed is 105+...
