CPP's WITB for 2013....no, really, I mean it this time....

Recommended Posts

Sorry for posting a new 2013 WITB, but the old one had a lot of good pictures of putters that I didn't want to delete (in case others still want to look at them, even though pretty much all of them have moved on to other homes by now). Anyway, this is the final bag for 2013. No more changes....I'm happy with everything in here, which is the first time I can say that since joining this site. (I do reserve the right to retract that statement)

Driver: TaylorMade R1 Black TP, with Phenom 65-X shaft, set at 10 degrees (line between 9.5 and 10.5), 3 degrees closed setting, and 10 grams in the heel/1 gram in the toe. Can you see the R1 graphics? I can't....only on sunny days do they really show.

Fairway Wood: Callaway XHot Pro, 15 degrees with AD-DI 7X shaft. I pull this club when I need to hit a fairway off the tee, especially if there is trouble right. I might start to rethink that now, with the R1 Black though.

Hybrid: TaylorMade Rescue '11 18.5 degrees, with Miyazaki 59-S shaft. Also a fairway finder, pretty good for hairier lies too, even sand.

Irons: TaylorMade Rocketbladez, 3, 5-AW, LW. The 3-PW have Recoil 125g F5 shafts, the AW has a KBS 6.0 shaft in it, and the LW has the stock Rocketfuel shaft. I pulled out the 4 iron and bent the 3 and 5 irons to gap this set a little better.

Wedge: TaylorMade ZTP, 54 degree, with custom grind and Miyazaki wedge shaft. I love this wedge so much, I even bought an extra face plate for it. Planning to keep this one for awhile.

Putter: Bettinardi Kuchar Model 2 Arm Lock, set at 40.5 inches with SuperStroke grip. Putting stats have dropped ever since putting this in play. LOVE IT!!! That said, I do have another putter project in the works, something I call Project Gearhead. Hoping it will be ready by the fall, but that depends on when the shop can actually mill it.

Extra: Bettinardi milled flask with Four Roses Single Batch (note the weight, I only bring this along when riding!)

Covers: Seamus headcovers, made in Portland, Oregon. Bettinardi Stinger cover with velcro closure for the putter (in process of getting a Seamus boot for it)

Bag: Bettinardi Stand Bag by Sun Mountain (believe this is a DLX 3.5, but not 100%)

Putter Collection:

Not as many here now as there have been, and these ones are all keepers for one reason or another (except for maybe the 54....that one is on the bubble). That said, pretty much none of these will see the course a whole lot. I am stroking the Arm Lock way too good right now to allow any of these others a sniff. If there was a reason for me to go to a single backup though, it would probably be the 3/4 DASS JAM. All of them are being kept in a new "One and Done" yellow Bettinardi Staff bag. Got this at the Social earlier this month, and had it signed by the man himself.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks Max... Allegedly this produces a draw (opposite configuration promotes a fade, and also increases the swing weight). Not sure if that really works or not, but I figure it can't hurt. My normal path with the driver is straight or a slight fade. The G25 I had turned that into a slice, while this seems to turn it into a straight ball with some draw action. To be honest, I think it's all in how I set up to the ball. I don't think I ever felt comfortable over the G25.

Nice clubs CPP, what putting style are you using with the Kuch?
Going arm lock, just like Kuchar. I think I do it slightly different from him though. I don't think the grip comes up his arm as high. I try to stick the end of the grip into the inside of my elbow.

This putter makes short putts automatic. I'd say this putter has probably saved me 3 putts per round, just based on my Golfshot stats. Scrambling % is up too, as you'd expect.

All hail the X Hot Pro! Awesome set up my man. Sweet Bettis too!
Thanks, other than the Betti, it's the only non-TM club in the bag. Just couldnt find a TM fairway wood that I liked this year. This is the first Callaway club I've kept in the bag in ~20 years, since the original Big Bertha (before it was called original).

Mike love the staff bag I'm a buyer if you sell it!

I tell you what, if you know where I can get the purple-ish/blue one and done (not the Kuchar bags), I would be motivated to sell this one! That one was gone by the time I got to the top of the stairs.

Love the 3w
Thanks, I'm debating putting a similar setup into the driver to try to raise the launch a bit. Going to try a Kusala blue first, but then go to AD-DI, I think if that doesn't work. This is the best 3-wood I've ever owned, and that's saying something.

Wow. That is an awesome bag. How long have you bagged the arm-lock? Currently I have a Daddy Long Legs but I've been waiting for more arm-locks to come to retail so I can give them a try. Bettinardi's are works of art but a little to expensive for a grad student like me. *sigh* One day...

I've had mine since they came out in mid May. Since getting it, I'd say that putting has become a real strength of my game, and probably saved me 2-3 strokes per round (admittedly because my scrambling has improved a bunch, so I need to give some credit to the L Wedge too). The putter is near automatic from 6 feet and in, and I think I have a higher percentage of makes on longer putts too.

I tried to like the g25 for its forgiveness but I could not hit it to save my life. For some reason I hit a fade to slice with it that was very unpredictable.

Put my unforgiving razr fit xtreme back in the bag and it was gone and I found more fairways.
