INSPIRATION:

The 2005 Limited Release My Girl™putter is a customized version of the recently introduced Circa 62™ No. 3 head style. It is precision milled from soft carbon steel for unmatched feedback and feel, and finished in black oxide for a unique appearance. This head was specifically selected for this Limited Release project and was weighted heavier at 350g to properly balance the shorter, 33'' overall length. The 2005 My Girl putter by Scotty Cameron features special engravings which are painted in distinctive Cotton Candy Pink and Purple. Silver stars decorate the plumbing neck and a single star is used as an alignment aid on the topline of the putter. A black headcover with ''for girl use only'' embroidery and a pink Scotty Cameron grip with dancing Cameron crowns complete the 2005 Limited Release My Girl offering. Only 750 pieces were produced worldwide.

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
- Lord Tennyson

As a Club Member, I have to say I'm still disappointed.

I don't see any advance notice. I found out here (GOLFWRX.com) first. I check Scotty's site every day to see if Club Members will get an initial chance at a new release (putters, accessories, clothes, bags, etc). On the whole, the worthwhile items (putters especially) hit eBay and other back channels first. I'm not sure putters have been offered to Club Members first, ever. Certainly not in 2005.

Can't imagine I will waste my money again next year.

PS

That said, I don't blame or harbor any ill will towards Table Rock. He earned the right to his relationship with Mr. Cameron. It's well documented that Table Rock was very supportive while (and since) Scotty got started.

He's upset more at what all club members should be upset about - NO ADVANCE NOTICE. What good is club cameron if it cannot even alert a member that they should talk to their local Titleist account and get in line to order a limited putter? This has been going on for years now, Scotty offers decent products for the membership fee, generally more value than the cost, but the information offered is sh*t, actually make that untimely sh*t.

I think the problem is that on the website the perks do say something about

getting notice on new products and the first shot at products. That being said

there is no way us poor slobs who pay $100 per year (and I'm one of them)

are going to get first dibs on limited pieces when his connections bring in

big time $$$$$ for Cameron. He has to take care of the big boys first.

I'll also agree that the information on the site in thelast few years has been pretty dissapointing.

This probably a super n00b question but what is the deal with all the hype about Cameron putters? Sure they look nice and are machined well but are they actually worth $200-$300 more than the 2-ball or YES! putters? And if so why?

I've actually tried one out and didn't like the feel of it at all, but like I said i've only been playing for a few months and don't really have good 'feel.' Thanks to whomever clears my confusion :)

Like any putter, it's all a matter of personal taste and feelings. I've owned a "few" Camerons and Betti's and a whole lot of other putters. Heck, I'm up to about 90 putters at this time. They range from $25 to $nuts. They each have something special that at one time felt marvelous. If you putt well with what you have, it doesn't matter what the brand or price is. Putting is all about personal feel. Something putter makers are all trying to assist you with. I think everyone would agree if they averaged 26 putts with a SPAM can on the end of a stick, they would use it. :cheesy:

Thanks for clearing that up for me pitbull, you the man. It definately comes down to feel and maybe after I get a little better I'll look into more expensive putters, right now my custom made Snake Eyes is doing the job for me. I don't know if i completely agree with your last comment regarding using a SPAM can though. To be honest, as I'm sure most of you already know, a lot of people might actually rather use a $500 cameron that they suck with rather than a $25 putter that they can always 2 putt with. Its definately sad but it is true.

Also, has anybody ever thought of using a pool cue (or pool stick) to putt a ball. You'd look like an idiot getting in the prone position everytime you need to putt but I personally think that would be much easier to do. I'm sure it is against the rules though.
