KBS C-taper question

Recommended Posts

I just recently ordered a set of C Tapers in x purely bc of the weight which is 130g....coming from s300 which I felt were a little soft and i tend to spin them to much and balloon many shots....I plan on softstepping the CT x flex bc I feel that they would be way to stiff straight in...I hit the CT in s and felt the shaft was a little to lite....any opinions would be greatly appreciated

I play an X in woods, but the batch of CTaper X I got in my irons ended up being a lot closer to XX. It was like getting in a car accident after hitting a bucket with those.

What I'd tell you is you're right on.

14 Pings. Blueprints are incredibly good. Fetch is the most underrated putter on the market. Don't @ me.

Just to offer a contrast, I swing my 6 iron around 90-92 mph, built an 8 iron with C Taper S+, don't have a problem hitting it. Like the feel, actually. Not sure I spin the ball enough to play them, so I haven't gone full set install.

I swing a 6 iron at 100mph and not terribly smooth, I struggled to load the s+, softstep for sure. They will still feel awful.
yea i see that was my question im at like 90 93 with 6i and pretty smooth...i wanted the weight of the 130g in the ctx but feel even softstepping the ctx will still be to much

I have a 6 iron swing speed of about 85mph with a quickish transition and have a set of Cally X Hot Pros with C Taper S 120g and they may be the best shafts I have ever played. Feel quite light and sturdy but produce great results in terms of consistency and distance (the jacked lofts of the XHP obviously help there too).

I switched out the CT x for the S+ found this link http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/496072-new-and-improved-shaft-chart/ the S+ will play a littler weaker than say x100s which is pretty much what I am looking for....thanks for suggestions and experiences...I will post results soon as I get them and install them....Im putting the S+ 9i shafts in my wedges based on the KBS site that should keep them mid spin mid launch

I don't want to sound like a no it all, but I'd bet it will be. Actually with a steonger loft iron, I prefer the KBS Tour x, it spins more, but is heavy and smooth. For me, much more playable than the x-100, DG spin too much.

Get fitted before you order.

I have similar swing characteristics. 8 HCP, 92mph 6 iron, smooth swing, a little early release, and I'm steep. Launch monitor data showed that for my swing, the C-taper was miles better than the KBS tours or DGs. I hit the S+ and X flexes the same distance but was consistently straighter in an X. Went with that and never looked back. Love those clubs.

If I didn't get fitted, I would have naturally assumed the X was not for me. And look at all the good golf I'd be missing out on. Again, get fitted. $40 was worth the piece of mind.

I just purchased a set of MP-69's with X C-Taper's and coming from DG X100's these things are crazy stiff. My miss hits are fades or pushes/slices and I'm normally a draw hitter. I'm thinking these might be a little stiff for me. I bought this combo to lower my ball flight as much as possible but at times I can still hit them high. I've only hit 50 balls with them so I'm going to give them a little longer but I might soft step them eventually or pull my DG X100's out of my Taylormade MC heads and put them in the MP's.

I recently got a full set of c-tapers put into my mp62's. my 6 iron ss is 92-94mph and got fitted at golfsmith. I got them in a stiff flex and they feel beautiful. I'm hitting consistent baby draws and its added 8-10 yards of carry per club. I switched from the s300. I asked if I should be in something stiffer but the fitter thought these were plenty stiff.
