I need a new display

Unfortunately I broke the display on my SG3. I must have applied too much pressure to the screen causing it to crack. I contacted SkyCaddie about purchasing a new one but they won't do it. They want to handle all repairs in-house which could take between 15-20 days and ~$60. I already took the device apart and it's a simple fix. Just unplug the bad one and replace it with a good one. The problem is where can I get the part. I heard that the SG3 is the same as the Magellen eXplorist line so I guess I could use the display from one of those too (by the way Magellen won't sell me a screen either). So can anybody help me out here? Thanks.

I think it is best to let the tech's at Skygolf handle this one for you. opening an electronic device without proper grounding could introduce ESD Electrostatic discharge.

It is the transfer of an electrostatic charge between two objects. This is a very rapid event that happens when two objects of different potentials come into direct contact with each other. One of the main causes of device failures.

Your best bet is to forget about the skycaddie and purchase a Bushnell Pinseeker or ANY other brand of GPS unit.

 

My daughter gave me an SG2 for Father's Day this year and I loved it until it stopped receiving signals. I sent it in for repairs (still under warranty) and Skycaddie sent it back to me 4 WEEKS later in the same condition (it still didn't receive signals).

 

After numerous phone calls, emails etc Skycaddie agreed to send me a replacement unit. I received it on Friday and the unit does work, but it is a beat up refurbished unit. The paint is peeling off and it looks like it has been abused.

 

I'm going to try once again to get a new replacement or a full refund.

 

Skycaddie customer service is very poor.

That is what why I want to do the repairs myself. Removing the display was a piece of cake. I just need a replacement display. I found out that indeed the Magellan eXplorist 100 display is the same one so I will try again on Monday to purchase it directly from them. Thanks for your help/advise.
