Oban Devotion

I needed a low launch low spin shaft and this fits the bill. I have tried whiteboards and pro launches, project xs, and myasaki black and this is the only shaft that has not only brought down my ball flight but hits long knuckle balls that just hang in the air. SS around 110 with high backspin most of the time like high 3000 range. I have not hit his combo on a monitor but I know it's launching a little high but the spin is very much lower then my normal. I usually hit very low lofted clubs (8.5) degree but I wanted a long straight driver. Put a oban devotion 7 in a ping g15 cut to 45" 9 degree head and I can't be happier. Longest straightest driver I have ever had. I can swing out of my shoes with this club and the ball goes where I tell it too.

Big fan of the Oban line up. The Devotion may be the most user friendly to the widest range of players. Very sweet shaft.

It's been hit and miss for me with this shaft. Some of the drivers I have acquired on BST have worked great and others not so well. I tend to hit a little too low with it (100 MPH) swing speed sometimes so I've wondered if some shafts are tipped. Overall I think it's a pretty good shaft and would like to try the Revenge line in my fairway wood.

I have a Devotion in my R11 and it baloons very badly for me. Not sure of the specifics but it's the 75ish gram in X flex. The driver is set on neutral 9*. My swing speed is pretty high, above 115. It will carry forever but it checks up like a lob wedge. Any suggestions as I'm clueless to clubfitting.

Don't understand that, at "75ish" that would be the Devo 7 which should be the lowest of the lot.

Have you verified it's not the head (i.e. try different shafts in that head and that shaft in different heads to see where the problem lies)?

anyone know how much i need to tip a devotion 7 in a 3 wood and a devotion 8 hyb in a 21 degree hybrid? i have untipped hyb shaft and an untipped 7 on the way for the 3 wood. i'd like it to play true to flex. i have the stock tm hd6 tipped .5 inch in my driver, and fubuki tipped .75 (standard tipping per website) in my 5 wood and love the feel and performance of both.

Just put the devotion 6 04 in my R11...Awesome shaft! I am a high ball/spin hitter, swing speed 105-108 ball speed usually around 150mph with a stock shaft...I haven't gotten this on a monitor yet but took it to the course I get a mid-high launch when I go after it but the ball seems to carry forever so compared to the old ball flight I can tell the spin is down dramatically...with stock shafts the ball seemed to reach the apex then fall out the sky like a shot duck but not with this shaft...I've got some tweaking to do so I will update when I get to a monitor and finish the tweaks

If you want a shaft that is smooth, provides extra distance, and consistent ball flight and your swing speed is similar to mine this is a great shaft to try...I am trying to find a 7 or an 8 to put in my 3w

That's what I thought as well. Put a stiff 7 in my 3 wd and increase in spin and launch were noticeable. Switched to an x tipped 1.25 inches and much better flight. At least for me it was a higher launch/spin shaft.

Even now with all this new shafts and shaft technology, Oban Devotion is one of the best shafts in the market. I sold mine while ago after using RIP Alpha but thinking of going back to Devotion. Alpha is a great shaft but unless you have a fast swing, it can feel boardy.
+1

I had Oban devotion on TM R1 and went to Rip Alpha, than to Rip Phenom NL. Since than my swing has changed along with my Driver which is 913 D3. With Alpha, the shaft is very stable but as times go by along with change in my swing, the shaft started to feel little boardy along with loosing distance so I changed the Rip Phenom NL. Rip Phenom NL is a great shaft and smoother than Rip Alpha but sometimes, I loose control so I went back to Devotion the other day. With Devotion feels like I have the both world. Distance and control. I think all three shafts are great but for now Devotion is it.

Curious to know if anyone has compared or played both the devotion or the revenge? I'm not familiar with Oban shafts and I've never hit or played them.

I'm thinking about getting the devotion 7 in the Jetspeed driver and the revenge 8 SLDR 3 HL. Both in stiff.

Anyone play these combos or have any feedback on how these shafts play with a low spin high launch head?

This has been one of the most solid shafts I've ever played. I have a Devotion 8 - 06 in an old school 15* 904F, and it is hands down the best 3W combo I have ever hit. Control and power are off the charts, it's point and shoot, can poke it out there enough that I don't need the driver some days. This is one of the few shafts that really stands up no matter how much you attack it. Love the heavier weight in the 3W as well.
Picked up a Cobra ZL with the Oban Devotion 8 05 flex already installed on consignment for $60!! It is stout, but it really lowers the flight for me, longest straightest drives I've ever hit.
I'm seriously considering putting the Devotion 8 O5 in a GBB 3w. How're you liking the feel of the shaft in the ZL?

have a devotion 06 in 04 stiff in a GBB 9 degree head the flight seemed low so I swapped for a Attas G7 7s and the flight went up but the spin went way up and the ball went way right.

I load late and hard at around 105 mph. put the Devotion back in and Im hitting a low/mid draw with the exact same set up. It controls the spin very well in the GBB 2015 head.
