The x forged are a splendid iron and i doubt there will be any big improvements on it soon. Bang in an Optiforce driver and our bags are almost the same. Enjoy the new tools and play well.

This is the new setup. The x forged set doesn't carry an AW so I need to purchase a 50/52 wedge in the near future. I'll wait until the MD2's are more readily available and upgrade the entire wedge section. Any pointers on the 52/50 decision? I hit my 50* AW around 105m and would like to add a 100m club.

Unfortunately I'm ready to test the new clubs since I injured my wrist last week. I'm not sure how long I can wait ;)

Not too chic to quote yourself. Couldn't keep the gap (wedge) open too long. Just grabbed an Mack Daddy 2 52 chrome from the bay. Good price from an Austrian shop, should be here in a few days. #whendoesitstop

Just wanted to share my plans for 2014 and hear if any of you guys have any experience in joining a new club and golf course. Last months the news got out that when the final steps of financing are arranged, my hometown will have a new golf course somewhere in the beginning in of next year. The best part is, this club is only 5 kilometers from my house! Currently I'm not connected to any club and this would be my first! The plan boosts about great practice facilities (400M driving range and several approach greens) and course looks great! Do you guys have any experience in joining a new club, how much time does a course need to really develop? Any pros/cons?

Here's the plan and layout.

I have no input on your 2014 plans to join a club but just wanted to comment that I made the same move from razr x tour irons to xforged and love the new irons. I've been wanting to buy a new custom putter and need to sell my razr x tours to do so but can't bring myself to do it. 2 great irons.

Great move! Haven't figured out completely yet what I'll do with my x tours. I probably sell them since they still have some value left now. What did you gain with the x forged? Any cons?

  • 2 weeks later...

Another week another update. I've enjoyed a few session with the new x forged past week and I'm not sure they are staying in the bag. I really disliked the projext pxi 5.5. shaft in there. They are only 10-12 grams lighter in comparison to my previous DG R300's but I felt completely lost in certain parts of the back swing. Never felt any control en position with them and the weight caused me to speed up more. So i'm now facing the decision of changing the shafts in them or selling them again. Maybe they are too much club for me after all which makes me question the reshaft option although a good shaft really makes a club. The biggest doubt occurred when hitting the 5 and 4 iron. Distance was almost the same and that effect started to occur on 6 and lower, maybe also the shaft? If I can get a decent price I'll sell them again and keep playing the x tours untill I can do a proper fit for the apex ;) (if anyone is interested, shoot me PM).

I had much better experience with the MD2 52* last week. What a great!! wedge. I was looking for a 100 meter club and distance was a bit short so I had it bent to 50 ish and checked the distance on trackman (98-102m range). Just perfect. I'll probably be updating the 56 and 60 also when they are more readily available.

Update, the x forged are sold again. I'll play a few more months with my Razr x tours and look out for a nice Apex / Apex pro combo setup, 4-6 / 7-PW or 4-5 / 6-PW.

Just completed the wedge setup. After quite a search I got my MD2 set complete, playing 50, 56, 60. Can't wait to put them in play.

Future plans are a new x2hot pro hybrid (18 or 20), can't decide on the loft yet and test driving the apex (pro) in the next months. Unfortunately we're running a bit late in Europe on the demo :(

Just a picture update on the bag. I've put away the 3 iron again and put the 18* utility back in. The optiforce and versa are relatively new. I've got 4 spots in the bag under investigation. 1. The driver setup, doing a fitting tomorrow. 2. The 3W, either the optiforce or the razr hawk. 3. The 3-iron/utility/hybrid?? spot?? 4. The wedges department. Thinking of replacing the AW gapwedge with an x forged 50*, or getting all MD 2's(which isn;t possible yet).

Edit : time for some decent pictures..

  • 2 weeks later...

Time to move this WITB back up again, just to let you guys know what I've been collecting/changing over the last couple of months. Winter time is easy on us this year in the Netherlands (sorry guys) no snow whatsoever and just one or two nights of frost. It is the warmest winter ever I believe. This means I've been hitting the range quite regularly and played quite a few rounds (we do had a lot of rain, so local courses suffer from very wet conditions). News this year is I'm going to join a new club next year (course is being built as we speak), to bridge this year I'll join another club.

Big plan for 2014 is to get custom fit into a new pair of Irons, probably an Apex (pro) combo. I'll get fit somewhere over the next couple of weeks. To bridge the last couple of months I've done some alterations/additions. This forum doesn't help ;)

Newest additions to the bag/gear are:
- X2hot pro 18° hybrid Aldila tour green stiff
- Fujikura Fuel Tour spec 60X and a Speeder VC 6.2 to test in the driver setup (diamana S+ to tinker with)
- Some adapters/grips to do my own first club work
- MD2 52 wedge bent to 50
- Odyssey protype #3
- Phil Mickelson signature putter cover
- new irons soon..

I'll shoot some new pictures soon.

Makes my current bag look like:
Driver: RAZR Fit 9.5° Fujikura Fuel Tour spec 60X
Fairway: Optiforce 15* Diamana S+ 62+
Hybrid: X2hot Pro 18° hybrid Aldila tour green stiff
Irons: RAZR x Tours 4-AW standard L\L\L
Wedges: Forged 50, 56, 60°
Putter: Protype #3
Ball: Hex hot pro/NXT Tour S
Bag: Euro Chev Luxury Cart Bag 2013

I've tried some shafts over the last couple of weeks. I thought the diamana S+ was too soft for me and I was right. After testing the fuel 60 TS X, I'm now gaming the speeder VC 6.2 X, just a little softer than the Fuel(which was too stout). The motore was the first club I built from scratch, and man it was fun. I found the motore in Italy for around 20 euros, installed a optifit adapter and a lampkin grip. Off we go. I tried to blend colors from a white grip to a black head. It looks perfect and feels even better. Much more control if I step on it. Not as stiff as the fuel. This will be my gamer for a while.

2 things. 1. Very nice setup! I'm a Callaway guy myself and your setup is awesome. 2. Awesome pictures of the hybrid! Highest quality pics I've seen on here.

I just got fit into an Apex/Apex Pro combo and I can't wait til this snow melts so I can use them! Looking at adding some X2Hot Pro woods soon. Have a great season!

It was fitting day finally, and went through a 2,5+ hour session at on of the best fitters centers in our country. During the session we went through my entire bag since the fitter wanted to get to know my setup and play. The best thing probably was the 'free' lesson I got. I really learned a lot today on tension in the arms/hands en my follow-through. My top end of the bag was CPM measured an got the seal of approval. After that, looking at my built it turned out that I needed +.5/+.75 an 2 up in lie.

The outdoor astroturf and trackman setup was used to test quite a few different brand but I had my eye set on the Apex (pro). In the end it turned out that the KBS V stiff Apex Pro were perfect! With a new rhythm in my swing, the weight of the KBS brought a completely new level of control and feel to my iron play. Went with the Apex Pro 4-PW and will have my wedges adjusted in length. What a great day.

Didn't get all the numbers, but I got around 88-90 SS, 1.44-1.46 smash, -3 AoA, 158-160 meter carry on the 6 iron, don't know the spin anymore. But I wasn't paying attention on the number anymore. This was a good thing.

Just picked them up! Bag is looking sweet at the moment. Wedges are being constructed as we speak, picking them up on friday. First game on Saturday.

This was my first proper outdoor/trackman fitting and we spent about 3hrs to end up with +0.75, 2up, Tour V stiff, mid grip, 4-PW. Since you guys love pictures, I made a few. Please enjoy! (battle scars aren't visible on the irons yet :busted_cop: ).

[/quote]I joined Amelisweerd (Utrecht) the year it opened. Takes a couple of years to ripen and in the mean time it's really up to the greenkeepers and management to take the right decisions. Not doing so can slow down growth of the course and really set you back 1-2 years. The course in Utrecht took longer then I was a member there to really get to be good: more then four years.

I'm in Noord-Holland now, near Schagen. Member at a small course called Regthuys. 9 holes are very young and need to grow, greens aren't great but it's really a great club of people.

edit: oh cr*p that's an old post..

Love the new irons! Nice pictures too, you really seem to take your time making them just nice and spiffy :)

Some old clubs in one of the many bags. Just slapping some balls around trying to have fun.
