hardstepping PX 5.5

Recommended Posts

anyone done it?
So, i've decided to put PX 5.5 on my nike blades. But judging from the reviews from other posts, people who have 6.0 or higher flex seem to be happy, but not so much so for people with 5.5 or softer flex.( don't even see that many). They say PX 5.5 is equivalent of DG S300. But then What does PX6.5 equals to TT shaft?

SO... I'm thinking of trying 'hardstepping' one step for this installation. I've never done this, so kinda trying to understand the idea. if you hardstep one number,,, do you put sand wedge shaft into the pitching wedge?

I'm planning on putting the same shaft into my 54 and 60 wedges. so then... should i put PX6.0 into them.

help please~~

i'm not sure about hardstepping any rifle. i want to say that i've read or head that you don't hard or soft step rifles. what i do know about the rifle px is that they play a half fles stiffer. so if you s300 which is equivelant to 5.5 in the fcm rifles, then you will want 5.0 project x

I made the switch from DG S300's to the PX 5.5 in my CG2's, and I couldn't be happier. From the little I got to hit them due to the season being cut short, the flex felt very similar to the S300. The biggest difference I saw was my ball flight was a tad bit higher, and it was much smoother than any DG I have tried. If the S300 was a good flex for you in your previous set, I would reccomend trying the 5.5, because they defenitely do not play softer than the S300.

I have two sets of hard-stepped PX 5.5's in both MP-29's and CG1 Black Tour heads. I went to the 5.5's for the reduction in shaft weight as I had been playing S300's for a while. The PX 5.5 weigh only 115 g as compared to the heavier S300. Results have been very pleasing for me and I will be playing PX for quite a while to come. They do play a half-flex stiffer than normal rifles. For me it was all about reducing the overall shaft weight....

I HAVE PX 6.0 IN ME t** 704'S AND THE'RE PERFECT. IF I YOU GO TO THE RIFLE WEB SITE AND CLICK ON THE PX'S IT WILL GIVE YOU A GUIDE ACCORDING TO SWING SPEED. IT WORKED GREAT FOR ME! GOOD LUCK :dntknw:

This guide seems to be fairly accurate, I carry my 6 iron 168-171 and I have the 5.5. I too switched to the Project X's for the little lighter weight than the S300's. I tell you, it is AMAZING how much lighter just the 15-20 grams in shaft weight made a difference in the over all feel of the club. I have mine in CG2's, 1/4" short, with 2 strips of lead tape in the cavity to get the swing weight back up, and I tell you, the PX is truely amazing iron. I guess I am not much to say because I have only played with Rifle TFR 5.5, True Temper DG S300, and Super Lite R300's when I was little younger. I would defenitely check out this chart before you think about hard stepping them, because they do play a tad stiffer than other rifles that I have hit, but they are incredibly smooth.

Cheers, Bryan
