I am currently a Senior in High School and will be playing golf next year at a DIII program in the North East. For anyone who is not sure of a school they want to go to but wants to play college golf I highly recommend signing up for a recruiting service. Even though they may cost a lot of money it saves a TON of time. The service I used, all I really had to do was just fill in different information like tournament scores, GPA, SAT scores, link to any media that included myself, pretty much everything that is needed. Also, one very cool part of it was checking off which states I would want to go to school in, which division (1, 2, or 3), number of students, which degrees I would want to major in, area of school (urban, suburban, rural), and anything else you would need to fill in to find a college you would want to go to. From that point you just sit and wait for schools to start viewing your profile. A good part about the service was that I could see when and how many times a coach viewed my profile, and from there I could send him an email inquiring more questions and information about the school. The cool part about the service is that they tell you what to put in the email, and you can make form letters and just copy and paste. Even though I started the recruiting process late, as in signing up for the service in July of this past summer, I had 40 different schools view my profile until about October, which is over 10 schools looking at my profile per month. The service I used definitely got my name out there and without it I wouldn't be going the the school I'm attending next fall. They also had lectures online where you could tune in, ask questions, and learn about more ways to get financial aid or grants if you attend a DIII school. There is probably so much more information I'm leaving out about the recruiting service I used, and the only way to get the whole picture is to actually look on the website itself and view everything it has to offer. I know some people out there think that it is a waste of time and money to use one of these services, but for golf especially, you have to get your name out there. Unless you are winning or playing well in national or state tournaments coaches don't usually come knocking on your door. From my experience the service I used made the recruiting process so much easier and in the end worked out for me 100%. Thanks for reading and I hope this helps. Sounds like it was NCSA. I used it too, and I liked it. It wasn't the end all be all place for recruiting, but it gave me a nice page to show coaches my scores and video. I mainly used it to search for schools with all the filters it has, and then each school had a page showing financial info, student body info, close attractions, etc., as well as contact info for coaches. I'd say it was worth it just for the time it cut down of having to search each school individually.
