Yellow Bridgestone E6 for me in the winter although I also used Wilson Duo sparingly. The E6 is good in the cold weather, flies and reacts well around the green and doesn't loose too much distance in the cold (you're always going to loose some though). Plus using the yellow helps in finding your ball in the leaves and also on the fairway when the light is really low (it's really hard to see anything at that time). Good choice for the upcoming cold weather in New England.Just played 18 holes (in a minor snow squall too-fun) with the Wilson 50. Really nice, flies long and acts nicely around the green. Not a bad option to the E6.

I am looking to switch over to a lower compression ball for the winter. Can anyone help with what low compression offerings there are from Taylormade and Callaway? The E6 is the front runner but I was also looking at the HX Hot Pro, HX Diablo and the Rocketballz Urethane. But to be honest I don't know the compression on them, only that the E6 is low compression and seems to be a favorite on here. Thanks.

Bridgestone e6 is an excellent fall/winter ball. Use the yellow ones if you can find them. No reason to look for a better all around cold weather ball, it's very good in all facets of cold weather golf. If you use the yellow, be careful, it will grow on you. I now play the Srixon Q Star XV in yellow under normal good weather playing conditions. There's something to that yellow color - at least to my aging eyesight there is...

This is going to be a tough choice tomorrow. It's going to be a frigid 73 degrees....... Going to try the Maxfli U/3 tomorrow for the first time. Also playing a course I have never played.

For you other cold weather guys what is your winter ball of choice? I've played the Bridgestone e6 last winter but wanted to see what other suggestions/ feedback was out there.

I play the proV1 practice balls. You can get them for $1 a ball (2010 version) on eBay. They are identical to the regular prov1 ball except a minor cosmetic blemish. I tried using the duos, hex chromes, Nike pd soft, velocity, treosoft, and the e6. All of them were good until I got 75 yds in. At that point, they were not consistent, sometimes the rolled out 4 ft sometimes 20 ft. The prov1 practice dropped and stopped almost on command.

Not willing to give up short game spin, so I just use whichever urethane covered ball I have on hand and keep it and a couple extras in my pocket to keep them warmer. Haven't gone to a "winter ball" in many years. I'll usually save my more beat-up looking balls or ones I've found for fall/winter play if I'm worried about leaves.

I try to stick to the same ball (Bridgestone Tour B330-S) whenever possible during the entire year.
When the temperatures are down in the low 50s I play a ball as comparable as possible to my normal gamer, but with a lower compression.

Everyday ball: Bridgestone Tour B330-S
Winter ball: Bridgestone Tour B330-RXS

Srixon Q Star Tour Yellow year round. I like the look of a yellow ball better for whatever reason, not really sure why.

It may stem from when I first started playing and my buddy and I were both using the E6 so I switched to using the yellow version.

From what I've been told by pro's the E6, and the Wilson 50, are the lowest compression balls and are great fits for the colder weather. Not sure the TM or Callaway offer anything comparable? I usually play the Rocketballz Urethane, Callaway Chrome+, or Bridgestone B330 RX in the warmer months though, so they might not be the right ball for colder months - you can tell the difference after switching to the lower compression ball, plus they are a lot less money.

Been playing Pinnacle Exceptions as of late. Doesn't get too cold in Cali in the Winter months so the ball is immaterial here. The Exceptions are very similar to the Golds only a little softer around the greens. The Exception is easily the best ball Pinnacle has ever made.
