I think the golf gods are real!

A month ago, after getting healthier by losing about 10 lbs. and recovering from an ankle injury, I finally started playing well. I have always been about a 9 handicap and for over 6 months, all I can do is shoot in the mid 80s and low 90s.

 

So like a fool, I told a friend of mine very cautiously that I'm starting to play better, hitting the driver well, irons pure, good putting and solid short game and one day, I actually shot 76 and followed it up with a few other good rounds.

 

The golf gods must have heard me because in less than a month, they took my good golf game back and I feel like a hack again. The game is about the same but I'm starting to miss all the shots again, not by much, but just enough to ruin a good round.

 

So, the lesson is, if you are playing good, stay under the radar because the golf gods are watching and they will punish you as soon as you start saying this game is getting easier.

I've found that sacrificing a slightly used urethane covered ball to a water hazard during a round helps....just don't offer the golf gods a crappy 2 piece distance ball, that will just piss them off.

Happens to me all the time on the course. I'll pure a shot then the next shot I'll hit it thin or fat. Or trying to make an up and down for par. Chip shot from a horrible lie, CHECK, making the short and easy putt, NOPE.

The golf gods DO NOT exist and I have proof!!

One day in a money game, I hit it to about 10 feet on 17. Fix my divot/pitch mark and then fix 3 others. I promptly 3 putted the hole and it cost me some cash. Since that moment, I have not believed in the golf gods.

I never lost an old crappy 2 piece in a water hazard. This only happens to brand new Pro V1's.
