Finished without much light to spare and was heading to my car after some drinks of the back patio, in the middle of the parking lot I see a Cameron putter cover, I bend over to pick it up and its heavier than I expected...I open it and there is a mint Cameron head inside. I walked it inside and gave it to the m.o.d. I hope it got back to the owner...

I've kept balls, pitch forks and ball markers that I've found on the course. I found a rangefinder once on a tee box (the same rangefinder I was looking to buy when I got paid). As I finished my round and went to hand it into the pro shop, the guy it belonged to was talking to the pro saying it was missing. He was delighted obviously, he offered me money for handing it in which i declined and said " I'd like to think if it was mine someone would hand it in, it's the right thing to do. "

I felt good for the rest of the day. Golf is a sport for gentleman/ladies, and honesty is part of the golf etiquette in my opinion.

If it's 'non golf related' and under $100, then (from the informal poll of my playing buddies) the Golf Gods don't care, so it's fair game.
You are a scumbag if you keep anything you find on the course regardless of the price, it's about the principle. If you didn't pay for it, it's not yours so turn it in.
Wow...did you skip breakfast? If you lose something on the course, perhaps next time you'll value it more and keep track of it. If I lose something on the golf course and don't find it turned in, then I'm OK with that. You know why? Because I would've lost it and that's ON ME. It's NOT someone else's fault for 'not turning it in and being a scumbag'.
TheifGeekGolfer,
I would like my sunglasses back that someone like you and your golfing buddies found on the first tee about 4 years ago. Some scumbag figured that since I dropped them, I didn't want them anymore and decided to not turn them into the pro-shop.

Mistakes happen and people drop things on the course, phones, wedges, sunglasses, etc.

It doesn't mean that it's now yours......yes, I'm still pretty peeved that I lost my sunglasses, more peeved that a scumbag didn't have the courtesy or maturity to turn them in so I had a half chance of getting them back.
Oh that was clever, I see what you did. :to_become_senile::taunt: Seriously, I'm sorry YOU LOST YOUR sunglasses. I'll return them right away. I lost a few tees and a couple of balls, have you seen them?

lost a wedge at the nicest course I've played to date (50 dollar green fee lol) was riding back to find it, saw a 4some asked if they had seen it, no, kept going, couldn't find it, went back the other way, and one of the guys in the foursome told me to check his bag since he played clevelands as well. looking around at one of the carts and the guy on the tee box turns to me and says "you can search my truck too but youre going to need a warrant first, I already told you I didn't have it." in a pretty pissed tone. Immediately realized I was looking at his bag and not the other guys :scare2: I apologized after he teed off and tried to explain what the confusion was (almost mentioned my clubs were way too old for me to suspect him of stealing them with his fairly new bag haha), his friend backed me up, and then he laughed the whole thing off and shook my hand and gave me his name, all that good stuff.

at the end of 18 I go to the pro shop and sure enough there it is, as I'm walking out I see the guy driving around alone in the cart, apparently he was looking for me to let me know the shop had it, very nice guy, just wouldn't want to be on his bad side! lol

I have never found anything on the course while playing but working as a cart boy you would not believe the stuff that people leave in there carts. I worked doing carts at a country club and found some crazy stuff. The most common thing i would find was the keys to said players 70,000$+ Mercedes/BMW, of course i always turned them in to the pro shop but you would not believe how often this happened. LOL I'm not about to commit GTA and steal a members car. Also very common was pricy range finders/gps, a few times a week i would find these left in a cart. What supprised me was how the members reacted when i brought them their lost items. They acted so suprised that i was willing to return their expensive equipment without a second thought. I'm sorry but i couldn't steal another persons things without feeling extreme guilt. The only things i would not return were balls left in a cart and the full beers, also alot of half smoked joints ended up in my possession. Diaries of a cart boy......

Few weeks back we found a club off the green and I took it and turned it in to the pro shop. My thoughts were that if it were my club I'd be more than happy if someone turned it in. The strange thing is, that they have about 40 clubs that no one claims and you will see this at other courses also!!!! Strange!!!!!
I always turn in stuff when I find it. The problem down here is that we are in a tourist area and most folks have gotten home before the realize that they have left a club or headcover and don't go to the trouble to call back to see if they left it at a course. I would advise anyone that plays out of town to put address labels with phone numbers on your clubs. When I worked in a shop we would call the number and if they were still here they would come and get it. I had a guy one time from Mass that we called and had already went home but he paid the postage and we shipped it to him.
