My thing is, and I'm sure someone has addressed this and I've just overlooked it.....are you tellin me those little sensors in the end of your clubs aren't going to fall off in the bottom of your golf bag? As much as clubs get tangled? Or that the sensors might get loose and without noticing it, you put it into your bag, or it falls off on the course after a swing?

Seems like a guaranteed fail to me.

The idea is awesome though.

Played with the system again on Sunday and my results are posted on my page. Was easy to make a few small edits and post. Took me all of about 10 minutes. Have played a total of 4 rounds with it but my results show as 9 hole scores because our course is a 27 holer.

Have you tried editing a round from your mobile browser? I'm looking for feedback on how that works. Thanks.

Only happened once. I think I forgot to tag my putter and then tagged it when I walked off of the green to the cart. I could have adjusted it's position on the computer after my round but didn't do it. I'm still learning the system as well. The rest of the tags are pretty close. Tapping did not interfere with my pre-swing routine at all. I would just tag it as soon as I picked my next club and then went through my typical routine.

I followed you on game golf. Got my device today. Unfortunately won't get to play for a while, living in NY is funny that way.

I have not. Just seems easier to me to edit immediately after I upload the rounds on my desktop computer and the round is fresh on my mind. I will try this next time and let you know.

The tags screw in to the hole on the butt of the grip. It would have to take a pretty extreme hit for it to break or dislodge.
Just looked at your stats page. Super disappointed with whats available (not your golf).

Given the technology, I would have expected to see more things like shot tracker has. E.g. gir percentage from different distances, gir from rough versus fairway etc. Admittedly I viewed the website from my phone so apologies to game golf if it is on full website only ...

This has to be several levels more informative and less cumbersome to gain widespread adoption. I'd think the best market play would be to go as advanced and high-end as possible and not try to sell to the masses. Otherwise, it's doomed.

I could really see this being helpful if the tags "lit up" suggesting the best club to use based on real-time + past round history data that included things like weather adjustments. 7i from 190 isn't what most golfers can or should try.... unless there's a 20+ mph helping wind. The tags then could be more "caddie-advice" giving more than just tracking. Again, a case for going high-end.

Pair this with a GPS-tagged golf ball, then you'd have something unbeatable for truth and accuracy.

Some great ideas in your post. I think it's important to be supportive of this tech because over the past few months I've become increasingly convinced that THIS is the future of golf. Not this product specifically, but NFC connected equipment integrated seamlessly with GPS tech and mobile/desktop apps.

I think of this product as the 1.0 version of the tech, when what we REALLY want is version 4.0 that will have full integration along with all the metric-based bells and whistles. Think of Game Golf as the original iPhone. People don't always remember it, but it couldn't do much. It couldn't send picture messages or even connect to lowly 3G data. Streaming apps, what few there were, were blocked altogether. But each version improved on the last and smartphone tech blossomed into a major lifestyle changer.

This tech is the first real equipment innovation in the last 7 years, with the exception of adjustable drivers (which is still just a different road to take to end up with a fitted club), that struck me as a game changer. Having ready access to the stats you mention would really help me elevate my game and realize where I should focus my practice. Plus it's just plain old fun to track that stuff.

This has the ability to ultimately tie itself to big data, meaning me at a 10 handicap can filter my stats down to compare with only other 10 handicaps to see where I'm lagging and where I excel. Better yet, hopefully some day I'll have the ability to sort on the handicaps just better than me so I can see where they improve to get to that lower number. I'm not just talking GIRs and sand saves here, I'm talking everything. Integrating this with a weather app will even give us the ability to sort our stats by wind direction (into or with the wind) and mph, so we don't artificially skew on that major factor.

As far as I'm concerned, the first club manufacturer to pick up this NFC technology and run with it will be the next generation's big winner. And this time it won't just be marketing hype and a new paint color that does it. It'll be something I can actually use to improve. The days of giant leaps forward in club hardware performance are over. This is the future now.

I agree--I found it a little difficult to get the last bit of the tag screwed into the grip because of the low profile. It's not a nail-type of prong, but has some good-sized threads on there.

Like most products there will be amazing improvements in Gen 2 & 3. I can see it becoming smaller and eventually a watch version. Ideally if it were something small and thin then you just put it in your pocket and get the butt of you club close to the unit to achieve the tag.

If Garmin can make a GPS watch then these guys will come up with something similar.

The tags for the clubs will get better too.

I lost one of the tags on my 3 iron. Thought it might have fallen into the bottom of my bag but no joy. Bit mystified as it does seem pretty sturdy. Can only think it snapped off rather than came out completely.

i have a e-mail in to tech , maybe i have to be outside at a course?

You have to push the logo REALLY hard. Your finger has to sink in pretty deep to turn it on.

I've played two rounds and there is NO WAY the tags are falling out of the clubs. They are considerably bigger than the hole in the top of the grip and they screw in tightly. You can't even notice the tag on top of the club when you are gripping the club and it weighs nothing. I have forgotten to tag twice but I usually do it when I select the club and then start the pre-shot routine.

Bold = Non-conforming and won't happen.

GPS tagged golf ball impossible with today's technology and make it actually playable.

Does anyone else think this is THE WORST name for a company ever. Seriously, "Game Golf" such a vague name. I honestly think for them to reach a much larger market, they need to change the name. How is anyone ever going to find them? Huge marketing department fail IMO. I couldn't even find the iphone app by typing in "game golf" in the search it was the 40th app. No one scrolls through 40 apps to find what they are looking for.

EDIT: Side note I am probably going to buy one. I am very interested in this.

Mine has broken in nicely after a couple uses and turns on with a simple push, no need to jam my finger into it like the first time.

Heard of this Game Golf just recently. Pretty cool concept but I see some potential issues over time. And I'd like to hear some 'good' reviews before putting down that much money.
What happens when it rains? I play tournaments and want to track my stats so I can see where I need to improve...I'd love to see some example of the stats it provides but only seen one screenshot.

I just found this app a couple days ago and it's by far the best I've seen. If you're purely looking for stats...this has everything covered!!!

It's obvious you're spamming your software. If you want to discuss your software at least make another thread and don't derail threads that are about a specific product. I'd like to discuss your app but not in the Game Golf thread.

Didn't find an own thread for this device but has anyone tried CaddieON? ( www.caddieon.com )

Similar to Game Golf but with a much better user interface. The product is not yet out there but it seems like they have already been thinking of some of the improvements suggested to the game golf in this thread.

Got mine out on the course today. Seemed pretty unobtrusive, which i was a little worried about, since I don't like anything in my pockets. Forgot to tag putts more than anything else. Especially tap in's. Had my best round ever so that was a great way to start.

Fits easily into a preshot routine. The vibration and ding feedback get it grooved quickly.
The website hangs a bit, though that could be my addons and/or browser(firefox). Though anytime I had a problem I simple refreshed and continued on with editing.
Couldn't see how to post links to fb . Would think there would be an easy option to share a round. Maybe I'm missing something.

Mentally it actually makes me focus a bit more, mainly because I know that now people can see exactly what I did on the course which is a little weird and pretty cool.

I've played three rounds with the game golf so far and wanted to get my two cents out. I think this has a really good base to become a great tracking tool down the road as long as they continue to develop the online tool. Right now after uploading a round you get just basic stats, score, GIR, Fairway pct, putts, etc. For future iterations it would be nice if they could include the publicly available slope/ratings and give you an idea of your differential score for the round.

Things I love
- Super easy to use, I was a little worried about it being cumbersome on my hip as I play with almost nothing in my pockets. I didn't even notice it on my hip after about two holes.
- Tagging clubs is easy and you get a nice vibration plus a green light for one minute to let you know all is good. You can tag right when you get to the ball or right before your pre-shot routine or even after you've hit the ball. I've done all three depending on if I forgot to tag or not before the shot.
- After uploading and editing each round it gives you a quick breakdown of highlights from your round (i.e. "beat his highest fairway accuracy record with 36% fairway drives at Randolph Municipal Golf Club (Randolph North Course), beating his 21% accuracy at Trini Alvarez El Rio Municipal Golf Club" If you have a bunch of friends using this you can follow them and get their updates and compare your games to them as well. I don't have anyone on it right now but can't wait to get a couple buddies using it.

Things for improvement
- The uploader can get a little screwy and I need to back out of it to have it update the shots
- If you play a public course where you sometimes hit the ball onto the next hole (oops) it can make editing the round a little bit of a hassle (it had me playing the same hole twice because I hit it near that green twice, not terribly hard to edit and I'm not sure how they could fix it).
- The club performance is cool, but there should be a way to have it edit out shots under X yds for median average calculation. I use my SW/LW/GW for chips/pitches so often that the median is still only a 40 yard shot and I don't see it changing as the majority of my shots with those clubs are pitches/chips.
- Add functionality for missing right or left of green/fairway. Right now it just says fairway or green missed. It clearly has the ability to automatically calculate that stat, add functionality to have it track how many times I've missed a fairway right or left w/ my 3w, etc.
- It guesses around edges of fairways/greens for calculating hit or missed. I'm pretty anal about if I'm 1 foot off the fairway or green its a missed fairway/green. I think game golf gives you the benefit of the doubt at this point. Right now you have to move the shot to have it re-calculate, in the editer you should be able to just click off Fairway hit or GIR hit.

Overall I really enjoy it and am looking forward to having 20+ rounds in it before I really delve into the stats and see where I can improve. Excited to use this all season and hopefully game golf continues to develop the uploader/round editer.

I will end up with this but as some people are saying, there should be a range example 30 yards from center of green or distance from the edge of the green. where as in that zone no matter what club or tag is used goes in a chipping or pitching stats section....

the more iam reading about this device and hearing feedback the real magic is how the data is used with the maps of the course which is software they should be able to pump out more and more info as time rolls on with the same hardware...
