Iron shaft help!

Hey guys looking for a little input regarding shaft choice in my new irons.

Had a short 30min fitting with a range pro last week. Stats: 89mph 6 iron, Mizuno DNA 89 6437. Fitter concluded 2 deg upright 1 inch longer. This was with static fitting and lie board. Flightscope only used for 5 shot baseline at start. No flightscope while I tried out other combos and didn't offer me the wide range of shafts available.

Advised ping i25 with cfs stiff or AP2 with px 6.0. I wasn't convinced and felt rushed out after the 30mins was up. Went in mainly interested in mizuno and he was steering me away from them from the start. Also the two shafts recomended are worlds apart. AFAIK cfs stiff is quite soft and high fligh high spin whereas px is very stiff mid flight low spin.

Yesterday went to my local gold store where a fitter attends once per week. Have heard great things about him previously so thought I would give it a try.

Well he spent 90mins with me going through static/dynamic fitting followed by very extensive flightscope time. I tried about 10 different heads and every shaft available. In the end the best combo was the jpx 825 pro with nippon ns pro 1150gh stiff. 6 iron clubhead speed was 90mph, smash a consistant 1.38 leading to 189 carry mid launch and ave 4500 spin with a consistant draw and 10yd dispersion.

Next closest was same head with kbs c taper and px 6.0. However the spin with these was up on the nippon affecting my carry and dispersion. I was very surprised by this considering these are both meant to be lower spinning.

Question i have is should I hard step the nippons to stiffen them a bit as I have read that these tend to be a bit softer than c-taper and px 6.0. What you guys think?

Impressive numbers with the Nippon. My ss is a little more than yours and I only carry a 6 iron about 178. However, I tend to be a high spin player.

Spin at 4500 with a 6 seems a little low to me. Should be around 6000, IMO.

These numbers came from flightscope indoors. The nippon def had the tighest dispersion and consistan shot shape. The c taper and px 6.0 were carrying about the same distance as teh nippon. Spinnng around 5500-5800 but looser dispersion and more of a push or puch draw.

The flightscope software rates the combos out of five. The nippons were the only combo with five stars and the other two with 4 stars. Im really just wondering weather I need to hardstep the nippons or put them in stiff? I have read that nippons can play spoft but also read that the 1150gh tours are a different beast.

Shafts don't have much effect on dispersion, other than maybe the weight of the club was agreeing with you, leading you to put a better swing on the ball. At any rate, I'd hard step the Nippons since they are pretty soft. Of course the main thing is how they feel to you.

Felt great however hitting on a monitor without seeing the real flight of the ball is always difficult. I have read that the 850 950 and 1050 nippons play soft but have also read that the 1150gh tours are fairly stout. Does anyone know the freq of the 1150gh tour in stiff? How does it compare to c-taper stiff and px6.0?
Am I correct in stating that hardstepping will reduce the launch angle and spin somewhat?
