lots of 52/58 answers.

i play more traditional lofts and don't use a GW so maybe it's just me...but when you have a 52/58 setup, which one is considered a SW? to me, 52=GW and 58=LW.

guess i'm just one of those players that needs a SW between 53-56 and base the other wedges from there (instead of around what my PW loft is).

I guess you'd be using a 58 out of the sand as well... What are you using? 56/60?

I play a 52.12 and 58.10 setup and each can be used from the sand depending on the situation.

Only you know your own game and the courses you play. Personally, I like more granularity in the short scoring clubs. I would vote 50 - 54 - 58, or if you're wanting a 60 then 51 - 56 - 60 since the 56 will work nicely for longer greenside bunker shots. This might mean losing a fairway wood, but that is the way I would roll.

I was taught by one of the best wedge players I have ever seen. Not the best ever but whom I played with and he told me there is only 2 ways to design your wedge set up
This has worked for me and I find it works for any player.

There are 2 types of players
Feel player
Non feel players

Feel players like to take yardage off by using trajectory and varying their backswings and follow thrus. These players require less wedges to hit multiple yardages.
They will use the clock system in the backswing to hit each an every designed yardage.

Non feel players don't like to mess with different swings and just want to pull a club and make a full swing to achieve the different desired distances.

If you are a feel player then most go 46-52-58 or 47-54-60 some setup like that

Non feel players generally go 46-52-56-60 or 45-50-55-60

Neither is right or wrong just different strokes for different folks

Think this way some courses are long and some short , some have long par threes that require more long clubs, some have really long par fives and short par fours. When I prepare for tourneys I go over in my head what I think I need then adjust my set accordingly. I don't believe in one setup for all courses just like bounce that will change with conditions so don't throw out those old wedges they may come in handy. Course dictates all setups.
