I think you are right Bob. The last liquid cores I knew of were the old rubber winding balls. The only other cores I can think of that differ from the various injection molded types are a few metal type cores. Does this go back to "save your old bellbottom jeans"? I had 2 pairs of decent Levi bells from the 70's that my wife tossed long ago. Could have sold them on eBay years ago & spent that on golf stuff.

So...not since what...close to 20 years have we had a liquid core ball? Now...what can we expect from this technology?
All the liquid core balls of yesteryear we're wound, were they not?

Titleist Tour Professional and Tour Prestiege were the last liquid core balls in wide circulation. They were made obsolete around 13 years ago when ProV1 production caught up to the overwhelming initial demand.

I was speaking with a Bridgestone rep and concur with the post from storm 319 about the composition. It is a new formulation and is supposed to be the next thing in ball make up. It is as I have been told going to add some more softness to the B330 line with out sacrificing durability. Also going to bring a bit more distance . I for one am excited to try the new B330 RX ball this spring.

Every year there is that "this is the next thing". While it is nice to see that R&D is creative (or at least clever to recycle good ideas from the past) I doubt that the big leaps can be achieved due to the rigid rules and limitations in golf ball production (USGA, R&A).

I tested the new Bridgestone line up already. Great balls. Definitely great balls, no doubt. But is there a difference to the last release? Maybe - but no that much that I would see a difference in performance. I play Bridgestone balls and really like them. But jumping on the 2014 train? No, no need for me.

Enough with the techno balls. Where does it end? Guidance systems?

Yeah, that would be helpful! :)

I have actually, truly tested the new golf balls with consumers, and am seeing 1-2.5 MPH better ball speeds and a 100-300 RPM reduction in backspin in 2012 to 2014 editions of the B series golf balls. You can call it hokum all you want, but I see these results daily.

I will try them out this spring. My club's pro is a bridgestone whore so I am sure he will be peddling them on me as soon as the snow melts. I a couple dozen of last years model, but didn't think they were $1 per ball better than the Chrome+

Wow, that's amazing. With what kind of customers did you test that? Faster swing speed player, average, the whole mix of different levels? And did you see that improvement for all balls in the Tour B330 series or where there some different outcomes for different balls? I'm curious.....

Very cool to hear you have tested them already. I currently play the 2012 Bridgestone B330-S and have played previous iterations of this model. I have heard that there were changes made to the 2014 models. Have you found a dramatic difference in the models, so much so that I might consider the B330 now? With the B330-S I got the same distance off the tee as the B330, so it was easy for me to pick the B330-S as it was also softer around the greens. Do you think that might change?
