Fake Golf Pride New Decade Multicompound Grips

same here.
great topic since it discusses the enormous scale of fake grips one bay especially the mutlicompound.
i bought 13 FAKE multicompound grips from
bob4golf46

you can tell by the dimples and patterns. they don't align correctly or are little blurred in some areas. the real ones have the lines exactly aligned perfectly.
also when you try to take the fakes off the club, the grip falls apart in pieces rather then then as whole when you use the blade to cut the grip off.
JUST BUY GRIPS FROM AN AUTHORIZED GOLF DEALER.

So I was intrigued by this topic and wanted to check out the lone grip I bought off Ebay (came installed on a shaft) that I always had a suspicion about, and sure enough, it's fake!

The smell is sour vs rubber, the feel is slightly harder, smoother, and less tacky, and the upper portion of the grip's textured channels are deeper than the real NDMC's.

Here are some photos I took of the culprit and two authentic grips (purchased from Golf Galaxy and a direct from Titleist install respectively).

Now my only worry is the authenticity of the shaft. The seller is highly reputable and I even searched on the forums here before buying my first shaft from him and everything sounded good. I've since bought a second shaft for a different driver from him as well and that grip seems to be authentic (just a standard GP tour velvet). But the fake grip is troublesome.

I have just regripped all my clubs with the new Golf Pride Tour Wraps in white, I love the feel of these. I stayed away from the NDMC due to the price and the likelihood of the cheaper NDMC grips being fake, as so many of you guys have found. I haven't heard of any incidences of fake Tour Wrap grips? Anyway, after trying a Tour Wrap on my driver, I was more than happy to play these on all my clubs. Love em!

I have recently purchased Golf Pride grips on eBay and received counterfeit Golf Pride grips, which have a very strong paint thinner smell. Fake end caps are hard plastic instead of rubber. Lines and patterns are inconsistent to the genuine grips. Below are pictures of the fake grips in blue (on left) compared to my genuine Golf Pride red grips (on the right).

Glad I found this thread... Ordered a set of 13 off eBay and they just didn't seem right compared to what I had felt at my local pro shop. Turns out they're 100% fake. Luckily was able to get fully refunded. The seller claims to have gotten duped themselves but I'm guessing not. Person sold around 10 sets then has since listed 0 and disappeared.

One thing I noticed with the Fakes is how much thinner the material is. Give them a flick the fakes will fold over with barely any force, while the real deal stays

Thank you for giving a detailed post like this!

Thieves and pirates. Simply as that.

We must stop this practice by boycotting and resisting the urge to save money while lining the pockets of thieves.

Develop your own line of grips instead of copying someone else's and riding their R&D coat tails.

This just pisses me off and there's no excuse for supporting this greed.

Real ones smell funny fakes do not
The real ones don't smell "funny" they smell like Rubber... the Fakes smell like crappy paint.

Who should pay for return shipping when fakes are returned for a refund?
In my case the seller never requested shipping them back... they are terrible grips which they paid likely $2-$2.50 per grip. In a set of 13 if they sell them for around $90 USD so around $7 per grip. If they sell 10 sets they're making $57 - $65 per set.

IMO I wouldn't purchase another set of NDMC's off eBay unless I knew 100% they were legit by additional pictures. The set I received even had the exact same bar codes/UPC number as the real deal.

UPDATE: Contacted Golf Pride with the pics of comparisons and they confirm that the grips are FAKE. I have begun the process with VISA to retrieve the payment, all I have to do is provide VISA with the e-mail reply from Golf Pride and then I have my refund in a few weeks.

VISA told me I am not to send the grips back to the seller because I would be participating in the act.

I actually just found a great deal of REAL Golf Pride grips from RockBottomgolf.com masters code came to $8.46 each with 1-5day shipping.

FYI for those interested - we had someone return some fake red whiteouts and the barcode scans the same as the real ones even though the Golf Pride item code is different.

I just stumbled upon this thread by accident, and it makes me laugh how stupid the majority of people are, I am a zero handicap and I can tell you that a dam golf grip is not going to make a difference real or fake, and the other thing about buying fake grips that it hurts everyone, that is bullxxxx the big golf companies brain wash everyone, not a single product of any of the major companies make there stuff in the USA Titleist, Callaway, ping, Taylor made, all of these companies have there s*** made in Taiwan, but I guess Titleist, considers it made in the USA if one of there employees in California puts it in a plastic bag. My hole point is I could use any grip or any club, and still play a decent game of golf, it is the swing not anything else plain and simple.

Just by accident you bumped up a year old counterfeit grip thread, to talk about your zero handicap and how it pertains to playing fake grips. Scintillating first post and right on topic too.

yes sorry for the incorrect grammar witch really does have a lot to do with golf grips. Also clearing up my correct information on the counterfeit golf pride grips, how would using fake grips affect someone's game, and NO I DO NOT SELL counterfeit grips, but when the real ones cost $145 shipped VS $75 I do not think it makes much sense to buy them, and no it does not affect my game, and they hold up just as good as the real ones, so no I do not think it matters. Also all the major brands have there crap make in china, I have worked in the golf industry for 21 years, for one of the largest golf manufactures in the world. Also of course my hole point is wrong when you see it a different way. PLEASE GET A LIFE PEOPLE

So you "work" in the golf industry yet condone the purchasing of counterfeit product that hurts the industry? I hope, for the sake of anyone directly affected by your work, that you aren't handling orders or any paperwork as your grammar hasn't improved in the two months since your first very strange post.

Wait until you have the product in hand to make the determination. Person I purchased from had 100% feedback (member for over 6 years) but was using a stock photo. The grips that came in were 100% fake confirmed by Golf Pride.

As for someon3's comment the Taiwan on the inside is not a dead giveaway. The legit grips are made in Taiwan, the key is can you read it? The fakes reproduce the Taiwan on the inside but it's not consistent and on some are barely noticeable.
