Experience with Callaway’s SR1 ball?

I’m interested in getting others’ perspective on the Callaway SR1 golfball. It appears to be in direct competition with Bridgestone’s RX series and Srixon’s now discontinued SL ball. Any experience shared concerning cover durability, half wedge spin, or flight off the driver will be appreciated.

 

My driver swing speed seems to average a very consistent 89.5 mph as I learned from a long Trackman fitting last May. At the Demo Day held recently at our local dome, the Cally rep suggested I give the SR1 a try, and promptly and graciously comped me a two-ball… of SR2s. It doesn’t matter too much today. I just walked the pooch over at my course, and it’s still frozen. But I suspect that I’ll be comparing these two when better weather finally rolls around.

Big thanks to Callaway for sending everyone a free dozen of their speed regime balls for playing in the 2014 SCGA Am-Net Championship. I chose the SR1 even though on paper I fit into the SR2. I tried the SR2 but after so much time with the Supersoft the SR2 felt like a rock. I just got them yesterday and am hoping to play Friday. If that happens I'll report back with a review. Until then anyone who's played them please chime in. I too would like to hear some feedback.

I was just talking to a gentleman and the dome this past Sunday. I mentioned to him my interest in the SR 1. He told me he has hit that and the Supersoft and got better ball speed, distance and accuracy from the Supersoft. I still want to try both for myself but at the price point I'm leaning towards the Supersoft. Has anybody had a chance to try them side by side?

I have a driver SS similar to the OP - ranging from 88-93, and play a HEX Black often. I thought the SR1 felt dead off of my driver and irons and seemed to have lost distance compared to the Black and ProV1 off the driver. It didn't check up like the two for mentioned balls on short chips and pitches either. I had better experiences in both of these areas with the SR2, but not on par (sorry for the pun) with the PoV1 or Black.
