mp 60 vs callaway x-tour

I'm an 8 handicap right now, and playing a very forgiving game improvement club. I have a natural draw, so the large offset on my clubs is getting a little aggrivating. and i also would like to be able to keep my shots a bit lower in windy conditions. I am really leaning toward buying the mizzy mp 60. I have hit them on the range and hit them great, and love the look and feel. But am a little worried that they might be a little too much for me. Probably not, but just concerned. I saw that the callaway x-tour's are forged and would be much more forgiving than the mp 60's, and also have a very minimal offset. But i have never hit these. I was just wondering some opinions comparing these two. But i have heard quite a bit of how you can't beat the feel of a mizzy iron. But just would like some opinions. thanks

Cally's are more forgiving, but they will also have a higher trajectory than MP-60's. Both are great irons and you can't go wrong with either. If I was coming from a game improvement iron, I would probably go with the X-tour's. The MP-60's are a pretty big leap from game-improvement, regardless of handicap. They definitely have a different look, so also consider which one is more pleasing to your eye.

I am no expert on the matter but I had bought a set of x-tours six months ago but I have not been home to hit them until Christmas. I only got to play with them 18 holes but what I did notice is that I hit them extremely high. I had them fitted with rifle flighted shafts and that may have had something to do with the reason I hit them so high.

Just my comment for what it is worth. I still like the x-tour, but have not got much playing time to make a real opinion, if you were concerned about height I wanted to share with you my experience.

I'm a 10 index and for me the MP 60's are absolutely fantastic. They are really much more forgiving than their design would suggest. If you are an 8, you have to be a pretty good ball striker; they won't be "too much for you."

I went from the Mizuno MP 37's to the Callaway X Tours and now back to the Mizuno MP 32's. The X Tours, to me, had a way bigger sole than I like and would tend to bounce through the turf especially if the ground was firm. I also really noticed this with the short irons which to me are my scoring irons. If you have an 8 buy the MP 60's and you will be very happy.

I am very pleased with my X-Tours. They are forgiving and when I am playing well I can shape shots with them without a problem. This last season saw very soft conditions so I can not say if the larger sole will dig into the ground. I would assume that it might given hard conditions and a steep swing plane. I have mine with DG S300's and I do not notice I hit the ball overly high, actually it is a very nice penitrating ball flight. I moved from Hogan Apex+ with Flighted Rifle's and notice a big difference in the Kansas wind.

They are good clubs, and they are suprisingly good to look at even with the thick top line. I looked at the MP60's at the store this weekend and they are a damn good looking set of clubs. For me the extra forgiveness I get with the X-Tours trump the small lack of playability I loose from a set like the MP60's.

It comes down to what your goals are for your game. I wanted the forgiveness so I did not have to beat balls at the range as much to continue to score well.
