How did Hogan square up the face at impact?

He had a weak grip and a cupped left wrist at the end of his backswing. Both factors for an open clubface at impact. To top it all off he started his downswing by rotating his left forearm counterclockwise which opens the face even more on the way down, but brings the hands very close to the body.

 

When I do that I hit huge blocks and push slices because the face is so open at impact.

 

So how in the hell did he square up the face?

If you are shallow like hogan then the face will automagically square imo

Precisely ... from delivery through post impact, it's handpath to third base, clubface to second base (for a rightie).

He had a weaker grip, but it has been documented that the grip was quite a bit more neutral than he discussed.
The video of Hogan hitting balls into the ocean shows this pretty well.

There is a great video of Hogan squaring the face with pure leverage online.
Look up Slicefixer webinar part IV. You'll see how his wrists are set and are being transported through the ball with little hand or wrist movement. His pivot is dictating this move.

Having the grip a little weaker allowed him to rotate as aggressively as he wanted to without fearing the left side of the course.

It seems ej002 has a slight aversion towards me and some of the things I say over at BSG. This time he was mistaken and got things mixed up a bit.

I'm through the first 4 pages so far and it's looking like the same old chit , I could point out the most obvious contradiction in the thread but it is pretty pointless . I think so far petter has shown restraint . The 5 lessons stuff is likely more geared towards the high shooters , particularly the supination pronation extension flexion

Ok thanks for the link , painful read . Svs is getting railroaded . Tapio claims he knows it but contradicts himself over the years , a complete moron with zero athletic ability to move a golf club . Probably the single worst swing I have seen on someone claiming to be a golf pro/ instructor , ok maybe not the worst

Apparently. I agreed with PingG10guy and never said he didn't have a clue. It appears you completely missed that "fact" or you're just disregarding it.

I didn't use the word "poor" I said lagging behind. That comment was put mildly that there is an absencse of anatomical movement/biomechanics expertise.

Wasn't targeting you or anyone in particular, but I get the feeling you want to make it sound worse than it really was and make it appear to be harshly hypercritical.

PingG10guy might consider it a [i]terrible generalization. [/i]I think there's some truth to it, but said without malice. Nice cut & paste. Couldn't you have made it a bit larger?
