SWINGYDE

INSTALLATION (RIGHT HANDED PLAYER)

1. Place SWINGYDE on shaft of club by removing bolt and slipping over thin section of shaft. Position with clamp just above bottom of grip. Adjusting wing nut so clamp does not move freely.

2. Hold golf club with left hand, keeping left arm straight. Left thumb points down the centre of the shaft.

3. Top of grip on club should protrude beyond palm of hand, i.e normal left hand position on the club.

4.Support clubhead with right hand. Move clamp along shaft so that SWINGYDE "rest" touches left forearm, creating a 90 degree angle (Forearm must be kept straight.).

5. Club head is vertical, pointing skywards. Position SWINGYDE on top of shaft in line, with leading edge of clubface.

6. Tighten Wing nut to stop clamp moving.

ADVANCED GOLFERS - for greater wrist action, move SWINGYDE clamp down the grip towards the club head 1-2 cm and reclamp.

CAUTION

Golfers with sensitive skin may prefer to wear a sweatband on their left forearm when using SWINGYDE.

SWINGYDE can only be used during practice sessions. The rules of golf do not allow it's use during competition rounds.

For optimum results, SWINGYDE should be used in conjunction with instruction and advice from a golf professional.

I'll bite. Not a bad training aid. Davis Love III uses one, and I believe that Ryan Palmer also uses it, so there’s some validity in it’s usefulness I’ve had mine for over 2 years now and I actually have it mounted on an extra club that I keep laying around the house when I don’t go to the range. This training aid will really help you if you are trying to stop from going past parallel on the top of your back swing. I did that with all my clubs including my shorter irons when before I bought it. It will help you through your entire swing including your follow through. You can still get off plane if you don't position the Swingyde correctly but it’s a no-brainer if you follow the enclosed DVD for mounting it... I like using it with my backyard hitting net, when I don’t get a chance to get to my normal range because once the position is set correctly on the club hitting into a net is pretty close insofar as positions that the club need through your back swing, impact zone and follow through swing. It can be used with all the clubs in your bag. At $35.00 MSRP it’s not a bad deal.

It didn't do much for me - however I don't think that I had the swing flaw that this is supposed to correct. I'll disagree about the price - $35 for a piece of plastic and a screw is a little much.

I agree....I think the price is steep. But we had someone request one special so I brought in a few.....and they're selling.

I love this training aid. i hate it on the woods and driver but on the irons, its butter. I put it on my 8 iron and hit about 50 balls. though, i have to get a new one cuz the screw got threaded, so i haven't used it for a while.

Ive only used it twice now but so far I dont have anything bad to say about it. My teacher at Golf Tec advised one because I have a horrible problem with getting the club laid off and having the face pointing skyward (wide open) at the top. It also gets my right elbow in a better position at the top as well. I was hitting a lot of shots to the right the first day, but on the second day I started to see some real good ball flight. How do you all like it on your wedges or your woods? Ive only used it on the 7 iron so far..

5 stars. Pair up a swingyde and momentus heavy iron and you have the best work out possible. Swingyde works on proper wrist **** and proper plane while the momentus builds your golf muscles and tempo. Work on L-L drills and you will see results.

ive just got mine through in the post, £6 off ebay new. im a 2 hcap but struggle with incorrect wrist ****, my wrists tend to not **** at 90 degrees but at an angle which means the club goes inside on takeaway and is shut at the top.

a few practice swings and my takeaway is already better and the club is more infront of me going back, which makes things coming down a whole lot easier.

100%.... ive used this for years. Whenever the swing gets bad, simply hit a bucket with this thing and voila....back to hitting pure shots. Is it for everyone? Maybe not, but if you have any of the issues that these post describe, then this is for you. It is the only aid that I have stuck with over time. I see they go for around $20 now, so you cant go wrong. By the way, becareful when it gets cold out as you can crack the plastic where the screw gets tightened if you turn it down too much.

Very good review. 8 years later this is still an effective device for training shoulder and arm plane(s) with all clubs.
The clamp needs improvement as the aid is difficult to move from club to club; but it is still worth the effort.
These can be found on ebay for far less that the MSRP.

I'm a big fan of this device. It has a dual purpose and helps with my two biggest swing flaws. I go back and forth getting in the habit of either hinging too much or too little. This now allows me to work on getting the feel of the correct hinge for my second. The second big thing it helps with is getting the clue correctly aligned at the top of your backswing. I have the tendency to get to shut at the top and this gives me instant feedback. Well worth it in my opinion.

My golf coach (a PGA member here in Oz), recommended one of these to me during my last lesson ... did some work during the lesson with one and felt a bit 'weird' ... it was one in the mix of a three things we were working on ...

Having completed some practise post lesson without one, I decided to pick up one to test / try again and can say there is definitely something positive about this training aide for a hacker like me (GA 15.2)...

The 'correct' wrist hinge (as set using the swingyde) seemed to make the golf club almost weightless on the downswing, and with that, the swing felt effortless. Combined with my swing path and hip work and the sensation is so effortless with solid 'ball first' contact on ball flight being 'on target'.

I didn't realise how much the wrist hinge impacts the swing.

Yes! And one trick you can do whilst utilising the swing gyde is to either extend or shorten your thumb position along the grip (for a right hander its your left thumb) and see how your hinge angle changes.

I was an early user of the swingyde as the inventor - Peter Ormsby is a PGA coach and his son Wade Ormsby is a PGA player, I was fortunate to be a member at the same club.

It's a great tool but only really good for hinge angle and takeaway position at the swing. If you utilise a plane trainer it's a deadly combo!
