17º 4-wood or 17º hybrid?

Which would you prefer and why?

I haven't jumped over to the hyprids yet so I would go for the traditional wood. I've tried hybrids in the past with no success. I have not completely given up on them though.

If looking for a suggestion, I would go with whatever you hit the best and the purpose of the club.

I agree with WL Eric on all accounts...except I have given up on wood style hybrids.

I do like the Fli Hi II in my sig, but it's an iron style hybrid.

If you're going to have driver and a 3W, I'd go for the hybrid, just because I like the different look/setup from address than a fairway wood.

The second longest club in your bag is better served with the longer option, and generally speaking, your 4 wood is likely to play 25 yds longer than a same loft hybrid....all things considered equal.

Assuming your not struggling with the 4 wood.......off the deck or tee, I wouldn't change it....

I play the same set up as you, but with 5I onwards......each to there own....just an opinion....

I purchased the 4-wood to use as a club off the tee when the driver is not called for. Haven't done well off the deck with it, which is what the hybrids are for. :-)

If you can consistently hit it nothing like it . I hit a 245 yard approach on the green with 1 iron (16*) Adams idea pro hybrid and it stopped on the green. No 4 wood for me . Driver followed by 1 iron hybrid on par 5 's .

Precept ECU 18* hybrid reshafted with a high end shaft like an Epic True temper, or a YS7 like I have in mine. PM me or Beavs17 for more raves about this club. I can't hit any other 18* hybrid as far as this club.

i can hit from 180 choked up (knockdown), up to 220 carry. it is sick, and cheap on fleabay by the way.

I double doody second that. I go back and forth, carrying the ECU 18*.

(whether I have the 4wood or 3wood in the bag.)

This thing is AMAZING for the NON-HYPE it gets. I can do anything with

it. Mine is shafted with the V2 hybrid. I've tryed many, many other 17, 18*

hybrids, nothing comes close. Plus, it's 100% non-hook biased. JMO.

I agree with one of the posts above, the second longest club in the bag after driver should probably be a fairway wood, either a 3 wood or 4 wood. The FW wood is going to be 2-3 inches longer than most hybrids and will have a more substantial head.

After that, it makes sense for many people including myself, to go to hybrids. I have driver, 4 wood, 19 degree hybrid, 22 degree hybrid, and my yardage gaps are right in the 15 to 20 yard range between each of these clubs.
