Summer Ball Suggestions?

StezzGolfer

Recommended Posts

I need help picking a ball for the summer. I live in Arizona, so its about to get reaaal hot.

Am finally consistently shooting high 80's, naturally with a low 90's round sprinkled in there, and am done with really cheap balls. I can play a round with 1 ball, but sometimes lose 1 ball or two.

So any suggestions about $20-25 dozen? Not really sure what to look for in a ball. SS with my driver about 105. Not sure what other information I should provide.

Any help is appreciated.. thanks.

Give the MG Tour C4 a chance. At 20/dz its the best bang for the buck.

In soft conditions I have been using the Callaway Supersoft and really like the performance.

Both balls work great in the mid 80's its been down here in FL.

I like how people don't read the entire OP's post and suggest 45/dz balls

Is there really any difference between one ball and the next anymore?

I mean, pick the $5 ball from any of the top competitors, or use any one of the mid ranged balls out there that all more or less fly and feel the same.

They all seem to go pretty far and spin enough to hold the green. I can't bring myself to care about the ball anymore, to bad it used to be part of the fun.
Last week I took two lost ball penalties on #16 and carded a triple. While I was looking for lost ball #2 I found some Precept with a major scuff. I think it was an EV Extra Spin. I was so disgusted with my round I finished with that ball. I went on to par the next hole.

Id go with the usual pro v1 or prov1x depending on your swing speed. Really they are the most consistent reliable golf balls
I think he mentioned he only wanted to spend $20-25? For the majority of golfers, if you flip-flopped the logo between the ProV and a TopFlite they would never notice the difference.

Good luck trying to find them for $20 - 25 a dozen lol. The OP should be able to find some runout premium balls in his price range if he shops around. The chrome + and Maxfli U4 can be had for $25 a dozen, both top notch balls that will fit the brief.

Tried the soft ball suggestions. Not sure how I feel about those. They were really long, and ballooned on me.. as I already hit the ball high, these exaggerated it worse. Off the putter was a bit strange and fast.

Still looking around if you have more suggestions. For more information, I was playing the e6 before. While I liked how straight most drives were, I think it was me and not the ball. Bad strokes still resulted in slices. The main thing I didn't like was the roll off. Would not bite at all and roll up to 20 feet on well struck shots on the green. I want a ball thats soft enough to stop a reasonable distance from landing, but minimal driver spin (isnt that what we all want?). What balls fall under these categories?

More suggestions? I want to try a sleeve of the chrome or maybe the srixon z star or a strong suggestion from the thread.

Thanks again

The balls you mention should work for you (Chrome and Srixon ZStar). You might want to try the Srixon ZStar XV. It has less driver spin and won't balloon on you. Also, The Bridgestone B300RX and the B300 should work for you as well. These balls I mentioned are right around $30.00.

Want to try something different - off the beaten path...

Hopkins Golf has balls now. Their VLPRO is, IMO, as good as the Cally/TM/Titleist offerings in the 30-35$ price range for $20 a dozen.

Try em...

I like going off the beaten path.. main concern is how long the ball will be around. I like to stick to one ball so I learn how it reacts to all my shots.

RPJET - I like that right there, i noticed the Z star XV. I might look into that.

Main reason I dont want to try the chrome, is i heard it will be discontinued soon. Any truth to this?
