Thanks for posting the actual spin rate chart. To me the take away from the tight cluster of red dots on the right is that premium balls all pretty much perform the same.

I believe #42 is the Wilson Duo and that it is just missing from the number key. It was included in the issue.

Anyone notice the spin comparison of prov1 and prov1x? I am shocked the prov1x has a high spin rate on half wedges.

The difference in spin between the ProV1 and ProV1x off short irons/wedges has been negligible since the 2007 versions. It was only the first couple of versions of the X that spun considerably less.

Bought a box of the Callaway Supersofts today for league play this afternoon where it'll be in the high 40s and slightly windy. Should be interesting. I've played the Hex Black and Chrome plus for the past couple years (with a foray in the Lethals at the end of last year after trying a sleeve) and liked them off the tee and around the green.

I do agree with the assessment of the Project(a) balls. I heard they were kind of spinny from people here on the board but thought "how bad could they be?" I will say this, they're ultra durable. Still on my 1st ball for 45 holes. Nary a scuff. However they are quite spinny off the driver FMAMS (for me and my swing) and my high irons and wedges, always short of the target. I'll be giving the P(a) away more than likely. That and my game is more of a bump and run than lob at the flag.

Damn the SuperSoft looks really good on that chart for a ball that sells for 20 bucks a dozen. I bought a couple of dozen to use in the cooler spring weather and have been hitting them well but based on that chart data, might be using them all summer.

Where are you seeing that.?

Q Star is slightly less than middle of the road on the wedge spin. Gamer Soft and e6 were similar to it on the chart

That chart confirms what I've thought on this years balls. The RZN black is this years zstar XV and last years zstar xv is much better than the old one if you like low driver spin and mid high wedge spin.

Looks like the new FG Tour is a winner. Low driver spin, high wedge spin. The last generation was terribly overlooked, which is too bad as it was one of my favourite balls ever. Wilson Staff is putting out some really good products.

Does this mean the supersoft will stop like a urethane ball? Or will it have the roll off of a Ionomer? Or somewhere in the middle.

I either want to pickup and test the e5 or the supersoft. Dont think i have the game for a premium ball, but am tired of hitting nice shots to the green and the ball rolls off 10 15 20 feet

The supersofts need a high(er) approach angle. But being soft, they do that with ease. On chip shots around the green, they *will* roll and not check as much as a premium ball, but that's easy to plan for.

Try the FG Tour. It also has a nice soft feel to it, though I prefer it to the SL.
