I'm looking to try a new ball for this year. I've played the Pro-V1 and Pro-V1x for the past few years...I'm looking for what Bridgstone and Srixon have to offer, but am confussed as to what ball is what! I understand that Bridgstone offers the B330 and B330s and Srixon offers the Z-URS and Z-URC....What equals what?? Is the B330S and Z-URS = the Pro-V1 and the others are equal to the Pro-V1x??

Also, looking for a little more distance off the tee and a ball that will stop on the green and feel a bit softer off the putter (more similar to the Pro-V1x)...

Thanks,
O.

I have been in the same position, and having tried several different models, I can't get away from the ProV1x. I have tried the Bridgestone B330 since its redesign, and while distance and trajectory are both a little better than the Titleist, for my game this ball is terribly disappointing around the greens. It spins OK on full shots, but not nearly enough on touch shots and has a very harsh feel to it. The cover is more durable than the first version, but to me and for my game, I like a much softer feel. The B330s has the feel I like, but spins too much. The Srixon Z-URS might actually be the switcher. It is as long for me as the ProV1x, spins about the same on full shots, and maybe a touch less on touch shots, and has a slightly firmer feel off the putter, but not much. I like its trajectory, and it holds its line well in the wind. I could get used to this ball for sure, and it's a little less pricey than the Titleist. I also tried the new Nike One Black, and I love it off the driver, it's LONG! It has a much softer feel to me than last year's ball, but really suffers from a lack of spin from what I can tell so far. For me, the verdict's still out on that ball. I need to play with it a bit more to really get a feel for the bite. It is definitely as long or longer than the Titleist though. I have yet to try the new Callaway or Taylor Made balls, and probably won't give those a shot anyway.

Oh, and by the way, The comparable Taylor Made and Srixon balls to the ProV1x are the black and the Z-URC. The Z-URS and the TP Red are comparable to the ProV1.

Actually it's a little different for 08. The TP Red has been redesigned to lower spin for high spin players, while the black is now for players who don't spin the ball enough. If you look on the box it says "For Lower Spin Players" on the Black and vice versa on the Red. More to come on this when we publish our interview with Dean Snell about all the new TaylorMade balls.

The Srixon's sort of a 'tweener. ZUR-C is higher spin off the driver like Pro V1 with firmer overall feel like V1X. At least according to Srixon.

It's a tough call in the end you've got to try them yourself to see which one suits you the best.

AAAHHHHHHHH! Why can't we get anything settled on this. Actually i want to thank all for there input b/c i am in the same boat kind of. I have been wanting to find a new ball that can be my go to ball. I have been interested in the srixon family as well as the bridgestone boys and the wilson tpx4.....o.k here we go, what is the best ball that will give me what i am looking for, which is: Softer all around tee to green, i hit already a high ball so i don't need huge spin but want green side control for 60 yds and in. And has somewhat of a lower ball flight, which is hard b/c softer balls are higher spin. And last but not least something that is very playable in the wind..... i know, i know i am probably asking to find a miracle with all those specifications but i want to throw this out to you guys b/c you guys are great sources of info. Thanks, D

Nope- for Srixon, the Z-URC spins more, but the Z-URS is softer.

Of course the new ProV1x spins more than a ProV1 and is harder too
