I've played the gamer for the last couple of rounds now. Good ball, definitely more spin than the D2 feel I've been using as a winter ball. Doesn't have as soft a feel, seems to click off the iron shots. The spin around the green is better, but I have yet to get the one hop and stop I get with a premium ball.

I have been playing the Gamer for that past couple of weekends. It's long with the driver and consistent with iron shots. I am even able to spin and control shots around the green. Previously I was playing the NXT Tour and tried the D2 Feel. I feel I can spin the Gamer more than the NXT Tour. The Top Flite Gamer is probably the best ball for money. It adds the element the D2 feel lacks...SPIN. $20 per dz is tough to beat. It probably out performs plenty of balls in the $30 range. I would highly recommend taking the Gamer for a test drive. BTW my hcp is 6.5.

I think the comparison I would want to see is the HX Hot Bite vs. TF Gamer. Anyone chime in on this?

I have played the Gamer for a few rounds and like it. I has good distance, ok spin and a great price. ($20 per dozen) A mid price ball usually does not play as well as this one does. At this time it looks like I will be staying with the Gamer for awhile.

Played the Gamer for two rounds so far, and am very happy! Great ball for the price. I've also played the Wilson Zip and find it to be a great ball for the price too! Frankly, I'm having a hard time deciding which one I will buy first when my dozens of each run out. Probably leaning towards the Gamer, though.

The Freak? Not yet - I'm trying to get away from distance-only balls now that I sort of have a decent short game.

In Golf Magazine's ball issue they mentioned the softness/hardness cover of the hardest and softest balls. The freak had the hardest cover of all, which would make me stay away from it. Still it was not much harder than a Big Bertha, which I found an acceptable 2 piece distance ball.

I will give the Gamer a try based on what others are saying here.

It has a firm "hit" and has a soft cover. It's as good as all the balls @ $25/doz. and thus all about what feels good to you. I find it to be really good, and for the $, it's AWESOME. It behaved in the windy round I just played, and didn't have wind problems, like ballooning. Solid, mid-trajectory, and stops. The mid-priced balls are getting some real competition. NXT Tour & HX Hot Bite are getting real heat from Burner TP, Burner, and Gamer. Price will factor, they're all really good. Try Gamer.

I played a dozen of the "Gamer". Good ball, but I found that it wasn't as durable as the Bridgestone E6+/E5+ I normally play. Gamer's scuff and cut up pretty quick. I found I went through more of them than I normally would. With the Bridgestone's, if I didn't hit a cart path or lose it, I could play the same ball until I lost it. Sometimes for 2 or 3 rounds. Not so with the Gamer.

I've Played the gamer several times and like it. but then again, i'm kinda partial towards the dunlop loco and the pro-v. yes i know that is a weird selection but it gets odder. I have a large putting green in my office. Sometimes after I'm done chipping and putting, I leave the balls in the holes. lakes, backstops, or whatever. i guess what I'M about to test is a comparison of compression. you see i also have a 1.5 year old rat terrier with razors where his teeth should be. he has chewed at least one of each of the listed balls with the following results. with the pro-v he managed to only chew up the soft cover...the mantle was basically fine. I was still able to take a 60* mizuno black ox and flop it over the fence and into the field behind my house with nice height. The Gamer's cover was chewed worse than the pro v and the mantle had slight damage. Wierd I know, I would have thought the pro-v with its urathene cover would have been worse. like the pro-v, i was still able to flop it over the fence with the ol' black ox. it did, however, lose some spin and rub my cherished rust off the 60* the last ball was the Loco. Man that ball did not have a chance in hell. In less than ten minutes, Doyle ate half the entire ball (cover and core). as a result of the damage, the ol' 60* was barely able to clear the top of the fence and fell to the ground on the other side. (where i presume it was later obliterated by a field tractor). I would have to say that based on this purely scientific test, The pro-v has the hardest compression, the gamer has the next hardest, and the loco is basically a marshmallow with a crunchy coating.

Ps. Doyle was just fine after having the Dunlop snackie.

I would describe the texture of the poop i had to pick up as "low compression".

All joking aside, I think the gamer really is a good ball. Although I'm new to the game, everyone in my extended family are avid players...Many are flat out good. To me, It has good distance. As far as spin, I can't get any ball to "back up" consistantly...just not good enough. I have seen my cousin back my ball up a couple times. but he is a pro v1x player... i can't see me buying 45 dollar balls anytime soon. I do, however have several of them.
