New Driver and 3 wood

Well just thought I'd post up that my new driver and 3 wood are in.

The driver unfortunately I haven't gotten to hit yet as I just got the head from a friend and it is currently being shafted. It's nothing anyone hasn't seen, but big change for me in size of head. Got in a Taylor Made R5 dual TP 9.5 w/ UST 75 V2 X. Should be a solid setup for me as the shaft and loft are very similar to what I am currently playing just a much larger head (110 cc's larger). I'll post a review in this thread once I've gotten to mess with it.

3 wood review (sonartec NP 99 aldila r and d proto shaft)- Just got it so I haven't hit it extensively but hit it some and compared it to my Taylor Made Tour Issue V Steel 13* (here are my first impressions):

Appearance:

The Sonartec is a nice medium face depth 3 wood with a very very square setup at address and a very nice looking size from the top. The beautiful blue color is much different from the standard black that I have grown accustomed to playing a TM fairway wood, however it provides a refreshing change and fits my eye quite well while not being distracting in the sun. The head shape is very similar to the Taylor Made but perhaps sets up with a little deeper face.

Feel:

The feel on this club is a great feel, very solid and crisp. It has a much different feel from what I am used to in that both feel solid however the V Steel always felt a little bit hard and dead whereas the Sonartec feels very solid but like it has a very lively face. Sound is also a great part of feel for most and especially for me. The sound I had gotten used to was a very flat "thwack" sound almost as if you were hitting an older wooden wood and was sufficiently muted that it was not particularly audible. The sonartec provides a very crisp louder, however not too loud, sound with somewhat of a higher pitch than the Taylor Made. You can just feel when you made solid contact and you can feel the ball just jump off the face.

Performance:

The 15* performs quite well and fits exactly what i wanted it to do. Providing me with a slightly higher trajectory while still remaining penetrating as well as being slightly easier to hit out of some of the tighter fairway lies I sometimes find myself in, the performance of this club is great. The distance is nearly identical to my 13* if not slightly longer than my other 3 wood just because if has a higher flight allowing it to fly farther.

So this is just my wrap up of what I got in this week and the review of the clubs. Id definately reccomend the NP 99 after my experience with it. Ill post a review/ my opinion of the driver once I get it back.
