Updated: 06-07-2018 very last post: CAJ4AU WITB, Work parking lot edition...It's Been A While!

Recommended Posts

It's Friday, beautiful out and I have a 4 o'clock call to get on and can't leave the office to go play today. Thought I would kill some time before my call and do an updated WITB photo edition, so here you go... Pretty much all in my signature aside from the X2Hot Pro 15 and XCG7 Beta that will make their range debut this weekend...

I also have an Aldila ATX 65 Tour Green for the G25 I plan to try out this afternoon at the range. Between it and the Ahina in the G25 trying to beat out the 9.5* (lofted up to 10.5) SLDR TP with Fuji Speeder 6.3 TS.

I second that comment on the 3 wood! Great set-up! My V Steel actually just beat out the X Hot Pro I've had the past year.

Unfortunately, it was my work parking lot... I play mainly at AU Club and Maple Ridge over in Columbus Ga. I hit up RTJ Grand National once in a while as well

Auburn is a wonderful place with lots of great golf. I haven't had the pleasure of playing AU Club, although I do play Maple Ridge from time to time. I had a membership at the Grand National when I lived in Auburn - probably the best golf at the best price I will ever play in my life - but Moore's Mill and Saugahatchee CC are pretty good too. These days I mainly play Bull Creek.

Updated pics 04/24:

Sold the Nike bag, went back to the Sun Mountain Four-5. The Nike bag looked great, but had too much check on it and at the end of the day, I'm just not a Nike fan.

New Tour Preferred sucka MC's (some may be too young or old for this reference) with CTapers, Anser 20* hybrid. Put the 09 TP AW in the bag and still playing the Tour issue xFT-ZTP 58. I have a matching 52, but like the 09 TP with PX 6.0 equally as well.

My 14th club is currently a R7 TP 6 iron that serves as a PW-5 iron in the event I don't want to put a scuff on a club from a bad lie. My playing partners initially gave me a hard time for doing that until they started asking me if they could borrow it from time to time to hit off a root or rocks :D

Awesome three wood!
Thanks!

For its age, the paint break vsteel is in phenomenal shape. I have had this club and an original steelhead 5 wood for many years and this vsteel has beaten out probably a hundred or better new technology 3 woods with all sorts of shaft options. I just did replace the PX 6.5 that has been in it forever with a Fuel 70 a couple weeks ago.

14 TP MCs didn't make the cut after 2 rounds and 2 range sessions... no more C-Tapers for me as I hate how they feel especially in the short irons!

2013 Anser 4-PW with CFS stiff cushion shafts taking over now for a while... Also the TEE XCG7 Beta has slowly won over a place in my bag over the V-steel. I am really enjoying being able to finally find a new technology 3 wood I can hit well off the tee and deck. Not to mention with the blue board 83 in it, it is almost as long as my driver off the tee at times! This thing is a cannon and feels great! Very muted and solid sound and feel! new pics to follow.

05-02-2014 Updated with 2013 Ping Anser Forged 4-PW. XCG7 Beta is under the SLDR cover and not the V-steel. Anser 56 and 60 on the way and should be here Monday as well as Anser 17* hybrid in the future.

Replaced the Anser Forged with S55 blue dots CFS stiff 4-PW

Put the tour issue xfT-ZTP 58 and 52 back in the bag as I cannot find a Ping wedge I like better... still have to try the Gorge Tours though

Same Scotty Newport and Anser 20* Hybrid as well in 2014 Ping Hoofer E2

Yes, I only have 13 clubs in my bag. I may get an i25 5 wood, or just stick to throwing in my R7 TP rock and bad lie 6 iron

After playing 2013 X-forged for most all of last year, I sold them and bought Apex Pros, then sold the Apex Pros and went with TM MC's, then went on a Ping kick with the Ansers and S55s (shown above, lesson learned trying to carry a bag with matching brands when you should just play what works) back to where I started. I am not buying another set of irons for a while, as the 2013 X-forged with PXi 6.5 shafts just work for me and feel really the best of any irons I have listed here. I just bought this set brand new last week and after one round and one range session, was like, "why did I ever go away from these?" Definitely a reason Phil hasn't moved to the Apex Pros. I have also since ditched the SLDR and G25 for a Ping Anser 9.5 with Fuel Tour Spec 60 that flat out performs for me better than the SLDR or G25! I have a new X2Hot Pro 8.5 on the way, but I don't see it beating out the Anser!

Added X2HP 8.5 driver and 13.5 3 wood to the mix. Love the driver as it is straight and long. Only missed 2 fairways with it last weekend. Maybe the same will hold true this weekend! I just got the 3 wood and can't wait to hit it as if it is anything like the driver, I will love it. Both with ATX green 65 in driver and 75 in 3 wood. I really like the clean crown with no graphics on these clubs. The feel and sound is good as well and the best part is they're cheap with good shafts!

Nice set up. The X2 Hot Pro driver has been a really under appreciated driver this year because of all the other higher profile stuff, not just from Callaway, but across the other manufacturers as well. Like you said, really solid feel with good ballspeeds in a nice clean package.

I bought the driver BNIB for $148 shipped free and the mint 3 wood for $109 both shipped free. They are unreal solid performers for sure. I may try the hybrid next, but the Anser 20* is and has been working well for me. One guy told me on here his 18* hybrid was only 5-10 yards shorter than his 15* 3wood. That wouldn't work so well for gap filling. I still have the Anser driver too, that has by far been my favorite Ping driver in a long time. Both these clubs mentioned are all around better than the SLDR was for me. That club was either awesome or not, never any in between on the course performance side. I just never could get comfortably consistent (point and shoot) with it and played it for the majority of this past year. When it was on, nothing could beat it though. I never could get it adjusted to consistently hit mild draws which I hit with both the X2HP and Anser. the SLDR was either baby fade or hooking... never a happy medium with many shaft combos!

Haha, if I didn't have a Bio Cell Pro driver on the way, the X2Hot Pro would be it for me. I'm good with my 3W, but the X2Hot Pro hybrid is also really really nice. I keep going back into the store to hit it, but I need to sell at least two of my four hybrids before I pick up yet another one. Great that you're enjoying the line, and I guess the late adopters make out well with the price drops!

A lot of tour players using the X2Hot Pro drivers and woods. Definitely solid performers.
When looking at Callaway staffers WITB, it looks like the count for X2HP is definitely greater than the BB and BBA

The BBA was a failed experiment for me as well, but I may not have given it a fair chance as I didn't like how it felt which was a deal breaker.

Sold the X2HP 13.5 and now have a BB 15* set at 14* with ZT 65 shaft and I replaced the Anser 20* with an X2HP 20* with factory ATX green 75. This may be the longest, most solid hybrid I have ever hit. It's more like a 5 wood for me rather than 3 iron replacement. I also have a new X2HP 3Deep 14.5* with Masters edition Matrix 6X3 white tie in it. It will likely go in the bag for an invitational tournament I am playing this weekend. Since the course is pretty short, it will likely see a lot of action. I may actually clock the BB to 17* and carry two 3 Woods... one for the tee and one for the fairway as every par 5 on this track is reachable. I also replaced the 45.25 inch ATX green shaft in the X2HP 8.5 with a Tour Spec Fuel 60 and clocked it to 9.5 playing at 44.75 now. Cannon is all I can say! Lesson learned, stop overlooking the cheaper offering thinking it is inferior to the main offering!
