Soldier Hollow being in front of Bethpage Red and Torrey North is an absolute joke. What a crappy golf course.
I can't speak for Bethpage Red or Torrey North, but I have played Soldier Hollow many times. A good course, but certainly not great. I am sure you will agree that it is pretty standard mountain golf, albeit on a pretty nice canvas. In fact, no single hole stands out and to a certain degree, the round becomes somewhat repetitive. One could make a solid argument it is not even the best muni in the state.

There are a number of nice course in the Bay Area, but Sharp Park is definitely not one of them. It may have a long history, but the course is in horrible condition! Last time I almost had to swim across a few holes!

I agree Sharp Park is in poor condition. I think it is on the list because of Alister Mackenzie design and the plot of land it is on makes for a good setting next to the ocean.

Harding is a great course but the staff there think it is Augusta National.
Presidio is fun course too with a lot of history.

Haha. So true.

Customer Service is not their strong area.

Yeah, they just have that "you don't belong here" attitude. I don't need the staff to shmooze me, but just be efficient and get me to where I need to go. It is not that hard. I worked at a golf course.

Crappy no way.......rated to high on the list most likely.

The UGA has held 2 out of the last 3 State AM's on the Gold and the USGA played last years Pub Links on it so I think they beg to differ with you.

I played #7 Pinon Hills about 5-6 years ago. All I remember
was that it had fast sloping greens. Quite a few good munis
in NM.

Love seeing Harborside in Chicago getting some much needed praise. Such an underrated facility.

North Palm Beach C.C. shouldn't be on that list. Jack Nicklaus ruined that golf course in 2006. I grew up playing there with my grandparents who were members for 20 years. It use to be a fun little course, $5 for a junior in the afternoon. Jack comes in with a horrendous re-designs, makes it impossible for the older members, essentially bury's refrigerators into the middle of every green, and because he stamped his name on it they raise the rate to $100+ during the season. An absolute travesty.

Sorry, but agree with the other poster. I can barely even remember a hole on that course. Maybe that is saying more about the Muni golf in Utah than the course itself.

Nice to see so many quality municpal/county courses available to the public, and I definitiely I agree with the Knoll West CC and Neshanic Valley in NJ. I would also nominate two other NJ county courses - Flanders Valley Red/Gold (Morris), and Heron Glen (Hunterdon) be added to the list.
+1 Heron Glen
I haven't played any of the Golfweek courses, but recently played Heron Glen. Excellent track

Everyone has an opinion and that is fine. But the Gold course at Soldier Hollow is top notch the Silver not so much......I have played golf for over 40 years all over the country on all types of courses from the cream of the crop to the bottom of the barrel. You may not like the Gold and that is fine but no way I would call it crap.

I think its extremely overrated and now that they have raised their rates to over $100 its also one of the most overpriced courses in the area and maybe even #1 in that category.
36 holes, all very similar to each other, nothing memorable outside of maybe the anchor par 3. Place is good, but it shouldn't cost more than $60. For comparisons, Highlands of Elgin is much better and charges $70.
