Cabot Links

Had the chance to play Cabot last weekend, just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it. It is a real links golf course. It probably needs a few years to mature, a couple greens were not great and the rough was pretty sparse. A couple forced carries off the tee as well which I feel is atypical of a links setup.

 

Facilities, from the room to the pro shop etc. are top notch, just what you need and nothing more. It with all be interesting to see how this develops, with the new course opening soon. Looks like the new one will be cliff top a la Pebble Beach.

 

It is a little difficult to get there, realistically a three plus hour drive from Halifax is the way to get there. With a short season and it being a bit out of the way, I am not sure how if it will take off. But I would sure welcome the opportunity to play it again.

We were in Cape Breton on the weekend, alas bad knees prevented me from walking Cabot Links.

We played Highland Links(not linksy) in Ingonish, what a great old golf course and Bell Bay in Baddeck.

Both very nice golf courses.

I played Highland Links as well, really enjoyed it. Felt like a nature hike with some golf shots mixed in. You really can't see anything but the hole you are playing most of the time.

The new one will be Cabot Cliffs and I've heard "the world isn't ready for it yet." That's how good it's going to be.

did you rent a car and drive? or did you use their shuttle service that they mention on the website?

My Director of Golf was just recommending this course to me last week. He had a chance to play and tour the new track with their Director. Had nothing but great things to say about it. Going to have to make my way out East one of these years.

Once they've got the 2nd 18 open, I can see it (or hope to see it) take off as a Bandon East for golfers east of the great lakes.
Will definitely be making the trip there to play their 36 and Highland Links once it becomes reality

absolutely incredible course. I've played it half a dozen times now and can't wait to go back. with the new couse opening in the next year and other great courses like highlands links, bell bay and the lakes cape Breton is turning into a true golfers paradise

Great course! Played it last week, weather was great (kind of hoped it would be worse to get the true links feel).

Caddies were great, greens were in excellent condition. I have never made it over the pond but will be booking Bandon next year so it was a great warmup!

In Canada we have a magazine and tv show called Score Golf, Hosted by Bob Weeks. He got a private tour of the new "Cliffs" that they are building and he said that even with only 5 holes complete, he has no doubt this course could be ranked very high in the World.

Beautiful place. I enjoyed it last year when i was up there. We had a hot sunny day with no wind, I'm hoping next visit it more links like weather.

I'm from North Carolina but had the extreme pleasure of leading a sales team in Canada for 9 years. What a fabulous country and the Cape Breton area is one of my favorites. Never had the opportunity to play Cabot Links but heard great things. A beautiful day in Atlantic Canada is hard to beat.
