Sun river resort bend Oregon

I am heading to Sun River in Bend Oregon in the middle of Sept. For a week.

I plan on playing Crosswater and Woodlands. Any one have any info on these or Black Butte Ranch?

I have the wife with me and she does not play so I have be careful about planing too,many rounds.

Any recommendations would be appricated

I would play Pronghorn, Brasada or Tetherow in that order too. Played Big Meadow only and I liked it...but enjoyed the previous 3 better from a course perspective. The mountain/alpine feel at Black Butte is great.

Agreed, Black Butte is beautiful. Aspen lakes is another one to enjoy. You're probably talking about Crosswater in Sunriver. All beautiful courses on that side of the cascades. I haven't been back that way in a few years, but club down. It will be hot and the air will be thin.

Enjoy the scenery, there's truly nothing like it elsewhere. I'm headed that way at the end of summer for a golf trip with some friends. Spoil the wife, let her shop, enjoy more golf.

Played and stayed there about 4 years ago, courses were great. Played all the courses at Sunriver did not play Pronghorn. We did play Tetherow and I would recommend it over all the courses at Sunriver. Was wildly impressed by Tetherow and I've played a lot of notable courses. Highly recommend.

There are three good courses at Sunriver - Woodlands, Meadows and Crosswater. Those three can keep you plenty busy, and Crosswater is one of the best in the area. I suggest you bring plenty of balls unless you're game is pretty well under control. I've seen guys lose more than a dozen on Crosswater.

That said, Brasada, Pronghorn and Tetherow are top tier, expensive, can be difficult to get on and are all three great fun. Tetherow is highly resistant to par, while Brasada is much more forgiving. Pronghorn is between those two in difficulty. Tetherow and Pronghorn require fore caddies.

Black Butte has two courses, and they're good, but not as good as the Sunriver courses, IMHO. Black Butte Resort is smaller than Sunriver, but similar in many ways.

I've done the "Stay and Play" package several times at Sunriver, and never needed to leave the resort to play good scenic and challenging golf courses. There are plenty around, however, should you find the time.
