Wisconsin Help Needed

Gents,

 

The family will be going to Wisconsin Dells in a few weeks for 3 nights. My wife says I can play 1 or 2 rounds but I'm not really familiar with the are or golf. As of right now I was considering playing Wild Rocks and possibly making a 1 hour drive to play Lawsonia Links.

 

Are their better options than these 2 courses?

 

Kohler along with Erin Hills are not options.

 

Cheers and looking forward to hearing any info, suggestions or reviews on these courses. If there are better options that are closer then let me know.

I would agree. Wild Rock is definitely the best of the Wisconsin Dells. If you are looking to stay in the dells, play 27 at Trappers Turn. Or, if you are willing to make a 45 minute drive, play at University Ridge in Verona, WI.

Lawsonia Links is a must play imo. Incredibly unique golf course. Trappers is also very nice.

If they are not options because of distance, disregard but if they are not options because of price, a course around there that is well worth the price is The Bull.

It's probably 120 miles from the Dells to Sheboygan.

The Bull wouldn't be on my list if I had only two rounds to play even if it was close enough.

Wild Rock and Trappers Turn will be a lot of fun! Stick with those.

Nothing wrong with The Bull, if you are in that area, I would recommend it; but agree I wouldn't make the 2+ hr. drive for it. Trappers Turn is nice; I've never played Wild Rock, but have only heard good things. I will be playing it either 9/12 or 13 and likely find another course to play on the opposite day...thinking either Trappers or Northern Bay (which I've never played).

Also, seeing you are from south west Michigan, I'm assuming you are south around the lake vs taking a ferry across. That would add a couple options to your list, no?

Not to change the topic, but it isn't worth your time. Northern Bay's replica holes are decent at best. Sure it is cool to play the holes you see on tour; however, if you are into course design they are very far off. To be honest, I like the non replica holes better.

If you only get 1 round, play Wild Rock. If you are able to play a 2nd and are willing to drive; Lawsonia is a great choice. If you have to stick close to The Dells for a 2nd round consider [url="http://www.reedsburgcountryclub.com/"]Reedsburg Country Club[/url]. It is just 20 minutes SW and is an outstanding golf course.

Looking like I'm just going to play 1 round at Wild Rock. Next summer ill knock off Lawsonia.

Not to change the topic, but it isn't worth your time. Northern Bay's replica holes are decent at best. Sure it is cool to play the holes you see on tour; however, if you are into course design they are very far off. To be honest, I like the non replica holes better.

Trappers is an awesome course, lots of fun. I was in the Dells last year and drove around and by Wild Rock but couldn't play due to an injury. Don't think you could go wrong either way.

You'll like Wild Rock, I liked it much better than Trappers....

Lawsonia is my home course, gotta make trip next time, won't regret it....
