Adizero Tour golf shoes banned in the UK

I would think that a spike like this would leave fewer marks as the pressure points on the actual spike are wider.

In conversation with adidas (Australia / NZ) at the moment. Whilst they deny there is a design problem with these shoes, they have offered to supply another shoe from the adidas collection.

I would think that a spike like this

Geoff, any reason they offered to do this? I just ordered a pair of the grey/yellow and if this really is the case, I would happily exchange them for something of similar value so I am not tearing up greens.

Also, has anyone given thought to roughing up the spikes a bit aka dulling them down before play?

I think they used a phrase along the lines of "whilst we do not agree that there is a design issue, we want you to be happy with our products...."

Here's an interesting pic... note how some of the spikes have completely disappeared, other than the ones at the toes. I can;t imagine how something like this wouldn't tear up greens

Took my brand new ones out for a round and they didn't seem to be any worse than other shoes I wear during their first round when the spikes are still fresh

What about the Adizero One shoe? Do they have the same spike problem that the Adizero Tour model has?
[/quote]

The Adizero One (2014 model) has a different spike pattern than the Adizero Tour (2013 model). From memory the Adizero One has different spikes?

I've worn the Adizero Tour and I've found they mark the greens much more than any other shoe I've worn.

I have the 2013 adizero tour model and bought them particularly for the wetter winter conditions. My course is on the sand belt in melbourne and the greens and fairways are usually quite firm but these things tear up the fairways and leave big impressions in the green. So much so one of my playing partners noticed and I had been noticing for a few weeks that they were very prone to leaving soccer shoe like dents in the greens.

Normally i wear the spikeless shoes in summer, but i have had to go and buy another set of winter shoes. I got the Nike Lunar control2, these are great. minimal green damage.

I think the key difference is the distance between the bottom of the spike and the bottom of the shoe sole. With the Adizero you are basically putting all the pressure on the spikes (of which i would lose 2 every round i played until i superglued them in), where as the Nikes are able to apply your weight pressure over a greater surface area.

it doesn't help that i weigh 100kg (220lbs)

How, exactly, do you think spikes SHOULD work?

These shoes just don't "destroy" greens more than any other spiked shoe like folks like to say they do. But, believing that would make the thread less fun, I guess.

It's not the spike....the problem is that the spike is attached to an extended part of the outersole. The spike is doing no harm, it's the outersole. Imagine you have eight golf balls strapped to the bottom of your shoe....it would leave eight imprints in the ground. That's what happens with these shoes.

There is no tearing up of the grass, just depressions in the ground.

Is it a problem on rock hard greens? I don't know but I doubt it....but any green that is less than rock hard is going to be affected by these shoes...the imprints on the green do bounce back...eventually.

I have worn these shoes and really enjoyed playing with them. But, as a bigger guy (6'2", 220), the spike marks left are monstrous in size.
