14 Way Stand Bag

Recommended Posts

I have the couple year old Ogio Ozone XX Stand Bag. It is perfect except for the fact that it is not a 14 way bag. Therefore, my clubs do not slide into my bag smoothly causing me aggravation. Does anyone have a 14 way stand bag and if so what is it and how do you like it? Also, has anyone tried the bag tubes sold at Dick's?

No replies worries me. I have a 14 way Sun Mountain stand bag that also has a putter well. One of my zippers broke and I will be in the market for a new one. I love having 14 separate wells and I love that my putter never touches any other club and stays ding free. I'd really like to find another bag like the one I have but I don't know if they are still available as I've had mine for 4 or 5 years now.

I also have the tubes in each well because the 14 way bags would sometimes grab my clubs by the grip end and make it a little difficult to come out. They work okay but sometimes they do come out with the club and that can get a little annoying. I've put a large rubber band around the top part of one of the tubes so that it catches on to the inside of the well and it's seems to be working to keep the tube in so I'm going out in the next few days to find more large rubber bands to do the same to the other tubes.

I haven't tried other brands, but the Mizuno Neo Cart bag (2013) model is the only bag I know that has full length dividers for all 14 wells. I'm very happy with it, never an issue (people do claim that the putter well sticks when you have thick putter grips, which I don't). Perfect for riding or a push cart when walking, but I won't carry it for 18 holes, not unless there's a caddy on tap :)

The 2014 lines went back to 3 dividers again.

You can also check the Mizuno Aerolite (14 way 2013 model) bag which I am also happy with. Obviously, there is a trend here with me and Mizunos :). It weighs 6lbs and on occasion I do walk 18 with it. It only has a single strap, not a four way harness, I guess it's meant to be used primarily as a cart bag. Never had an issue with my clubs getting in/out of it though.

Unofficial consensus on this forum though, is Sun mountain is one of the best bag makers. So I would be curios to see what else pops up.

Oops, just noticed that "stand bag" was the subject of inquiry, my apologies.

I have the Sun Mountain Four 5. It's a 14 way stand bag that's durable and light ('ish). Great bag and thoroughly recommended.

I just got one and while I like it a lot and have no regrets, I do find that although it has plenty of space overall, it is very minimalistic from the pocket standpoint. One or two smaller pockets to help organize tees, ball markers, pencils, repair tools would have been nice (and wouldn't require the extra pound of weight in the Hybrid stand bag). But it's not really that bad using small organizer pouches instead.

Sun Mountain Hybrid Bag. Money! I live in Texas so I ride a lot in the summer, but some spring/fall or on trips back to the Midwest I walk. Offers the best of both worlds. Oh, and it has a Cart Friendly Bottom (CFB).

I've been researching and fondling stand bags at the local GS and GG's and I'm down to either a Ping Hoofer 14 way or a Titleist Lightweight Stand Bag (14 way). The Sunmountain four5 seems quite nice, but I prefer the styling of the Titleist bag. I almost bought an Ogio Grom, but it seemed heavy and I wasn't confident that the zipperless ball pocket could hold up.

Has anyone seen or have a Titleist Staff stand bag?

Sunmountain Four5. Probably as light as it can get in a 14 way bag, and well made.

I'm gonna agree here. Also Titleist bags (I'm pretty sure) are made by SM, so if you like one of theirs, go for it.

PIng has always made quality bags, but for me, I need the 14 holes in the right place. LOVED my older Callaway 14-way stands, and this year they only have 2 slots on the bottom row.

I had the latest Sun Mountain 4/5 stand bag and returned it for the Titleist 14-way stand bag. Both are great, but I too preferred the styling and materials used on the Titleist bag.
Both have 14 full-length dividers so grip tangle isn't an issue. However, there is a lot more clubhead chatter as you walk and bounce since the clubs are separated just enough to encourage clanking into each other.
I was really expecting it to be the perfect solution but would probably consider going back to a 4 or 6 way divider top if I had to do it over. As much as grip tangle was annoying, I liked how the simpler tops kept the groups of clubs tightly nested together as you walk.

Been carrying a Sun Mountain 4 Five for about five years now. They are on the heavier side especially when you put the rain gear in and a bottle of water. Some more smaller pockets would have been nice as well but overall the quality has been great. the dividers don't go all the way down to the bottom so sometimes the clubs will still get a little stuck but not near so much as in a five or six divider bag.

I have an Ogio Grom that I've been using the past 3 years or so. 14 way individual slots. I really like it but just wish it had a separate putter well. I use the top center for my putter with a superstroke 3.0 and it barely fits. I have to rotate the putter so that the flat side faces up in order to pull it out of the bag without rubbing.

I have been researching the silencer as my next bag. The idea is genius but I have heard that the inside part that holds the grips also eats the ends of the grips. Deal breaker for me

I think Sun Mtn had it nailed a few years ago with their "MPB" model. A carry bag with individual full length dividers and a seperate putter well.

Mine is still functional but when it started showing wear, I started looking for a replacement. At about the same time I started using a push cart rather than carrying and got away from stand bags.

The hybrid model was sort of a replacement for the MPB. The fat grip on my putter wasn't a problem in the MPB, but the grip didn't want to go into the hybrid model.

A fellow league member had a four5 and I had no problem getting the putter grip in his bag.

Someone has posted previously that titelist bags are made by Sun Mtn.. It would appear to be true, because Sun mtn. has a patent pending auto adjust strap system. The titelist 14 way lightweight stand bag also has the auto fit strap system. The four5 and titelist bag would be on my short list.

Just remember that these bags with more dividers usually weigh at least a pound more than most carry bags. Althougth ogio's in general seem fairly heavy also.
