Swing Weighting Graphite Shafts

Hello, Golf WRXers

 

I have been swing weighting graphite shafts with tungsten powder and corks.. when needed to make the head heavier.. I am just wondering if there is tip weights or another way to swing weight graphite shafts the same or similar way to steel shafts?

 

Any and all feed back would be awesome!

There are pin type tip weights for graphite both brass and lead.

In addition to the golfsmith links above, Golfworks has them as well from 2-6 gms in lead and 8-10 gms in tungsten.

Just be careful with the larger ones since they do take up bore space and reduce shaft insertion depth. You want to make sure you keep at least a 1" insertion depth for a good glue joint. Also, tapered tip iron shafts may have to be trimmed to make room for the tip weights and keep a good fit with the hossel taper.

Not odd if you understand swing weighting. You can add weight to the head ( the second best approach) or remove weight from the grip end (better approach). One could also shorten the club which would benefit most golfers trying to hit a driver longer than 45 inches. The 7 yards gained in an extra inch is almost never found by weekend warriors who do not hit the sweet spot.

But you have to understand more than just how a SW value will change, you have to understand how different changes actually effect the feel of the club. SW value is not an absolute or independent representation of feel. Adding head weight vs using lighter grip may change the SW value in a similar way but they certainly wont change the feel the club "heft" or weight in the same way. Using a lighter grip simply results in a lighter static weight and maintains the same head weight. Neither one is better or worse but they are very different so one will not usually act as a good alternative to the other.

riiiight and swinging the club slower always promotes distance/accuracy?
also there has never been a need for "most golfers" to swing anything over 45" and through my fitting experience i have seen VERY few people pick up any reliable distance OR accuracy by playing a longer club.
the main question was ...why promote swinging slowly?

Who did that? Certainly not me. I suggested lightening the club. The adding of weights slows a swing. I just pointed this out.

Adding weight to the head does not always automatically cause the swing speed to slow down. Many, in fact, will achieve the best swing speed when the combination of static weight and head weight best match the players sense of rhythm, timing and tempo.

so then what does 'the heavier the club is, the slower you can swing it" mean?
