Best 14 Club Lightweight Walking Carry Bag for 2014

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a lightweight walking bag, ideally with a stand. This is solely for walking 18 and carrying to the range. I love my cart bag.

I want a walking bag that will fit my full set of clubs and a double strap, and of course, is as lightweight as possible. I don't need to carry much - balls, tees, and water is about it. I've looked through some of the threads from years past, but want to get everyone's opinion for the 2014 bags that are available now.

Based on what many have said, it sounds like the Sun Mountain Swift X is a consistent performer each year. I also have the Titleist Ultralightweight as a top contender. Sounds like the Ping bags are also a favorite, however, many complain of the club tangling which would drive me a little batty. Unfortunately, the specs for the Swift X and Titleist bags (see links below) are incomplete. Sun Mountain doesn't list the weight (Titleist is 4 lbs), Titleist doesn't list the width of the top club opening (Swift X is 8.5 in).

I've read on here that Sun Mountain makes Titleist's bags, however, these two bags are not identical. Anyone have any experience with these two bags or any further information? Or if you have another favorite in the 2014 bag lines, would you mind giving your feedback?

Thanks so much -

I may be in the minority here but..I bought the 2012 version of the Swift X, and ended up selling it before ever taking it on the course. It felt cheap, the kickstand was flimsy, and the "x strap system", which was supposed to balance the bag, was uncomfortable for me, it felt like my clubs were about to fall out it was so horizontal. I bought it based on the overwhelming positive feedback i read online, and being one of the lightest bags around.

I ended up pick up a Nike sport lite bag, and love it, much more comfortable straps, very well designed, and i love the divider with the putter well above the woods. plus It's just a few ounces heavier then the swift x side by side on a scale.

I have the 2014 Hoofer 14 and it's brilliant. Best stand and straps by far. Excellent build quality and I've rarely experienced and tangling. I love it and it looks and feels like it was made to last. Highly recommended.

I had the 2014 SM 4/5 with 14 way divider.
I returned it for the Titleist 14 way stand bag. Only reason was design style and materials. I felt that the latter used more durable material and had nice, chunky zipper pulls, dimensional stitched logos, etc. while the SM had a strange "outline" graphic treatment on the pockets that just didn't impress me.

I carry only balls, tees, towel, keys and wallet so no need for crazy amounts of room or a zillion pockets. Both had more than I would ever need.

Very good bags. The SM had a bit more comfortable strap material. They both tilt a bit too much (in my opinion) when the legs are extended. My woods almost conceal the irons below and force you to bend over a bit to view and select a club in the lower slots.

I just wanted to pipe up. I read your reqirements and my suggestion definitely does not meet them. Having said that ... Players Series #001 Bag.

Handicap tracking says I have 55 rounds in since the beginning of may. All of those rounds with the single strap Jones. I switched to the jones from a ClicGear setup (bag and cart). Couldn't be happier.

In any case. Enjoy your new bag.

I play so bad, but it feels so good!

I use the cleveland cg tour stand bag. It's light, does have lots o pockets but they're well placed and actually help keep one organized while walking (which I sorely struggle with). Biggest bonus, a velcro strap and "pocket" that holds a full sized golf umbrella (getting rained on while walking is something I also sorely struggle with).

I got my boyfriend the 14-way Titleist stand bag mentioned above by mgraziani.... It's a wonderful bag, he loves it... and despite being lightweight, its really quite large, almost excessively large for a stand bag. Probably intended to be a stand/cart two for one dealie.
