Vokey SM5- Which Shaft?

Hi guys,

 

I'm currently on the market for a couple of new wedges, most likely going to be the SM5 52.12 and 60.11 in California Chrome, but I'm unsure as to which shaft to go for.

 

The stock options on the website I'm looking at are:

 

Dynamic Gold

Dynalite Gold XP

KBS Hi-Rev

KBS Tour

Nippon NS-105t

 

I currently play S300 Dynamic Gold XP's in my Pro Combo irons. My current wedges are the old pokey spin milled ones, with the standard dynamic gold wedge flex shaft. I'd like to get a little more spin, particularly around the greens.

 

Lastly, a full swing 52 goes about 110, but I rarely put a full swing on it- I hit a long ball from the tee and am often left only between 50 and 90 yards into greens. I know that spin largely comes from technique, but a little help to get the ball to grip quickly would be helpful!

I play s300 in my irons but ordered s400 in my sm5's. Just picked them up from the store today!

have you looked at the DG Spinner shafts? i'm not very familiar with them but maybe they'd give you more spin?

Any feedback after you get a chance to hit them would be great! I've had a look at the spinners, but haven't had a chance to hit them- there seems to be a lack of places around me which have any vokey/spinner combo's to try- there seems to be a lack of places to try anything other than the DG Wedge mind you...

A lot of reviews saying the spinner is really inaccurate though, which somewhat puts me off

I have the stock wedge shaft in mine. Most fitters would match wedge shafts with their irons.

Since I play a lighter weight shaft in my irons (95g) I go 110g wedge shafts. If I were you I would lean towards the DG XPs. Go with something you are familiar with and like.

Spinner shafts can help with spin but I wasn't of fan of them for full shots. There are a few threads about them on here if thats something you may be interested in.

I like a heavier feel in my wedges that's why I order s400 in them....i'm not a high spin player really...but i can get a ball to hop and stop if i do my part (swing right) lol.........been messing around the yard with my new sm5's.....they are sweet....for me anyway....they just replaced Ping tour gorge wedges with s400 shafts also...great wedges also...i just prefer vokeys.

I play xp's in my irons but went s200. The weight is an easy transition and ball flight is good relative to my set.

I have wedge flex shafts in my 54 and 60, picked up a TVD this year with a kbs hi-rev and just love it. Gonna replace the 54 and 60 this year, probably will go with the hi-rev in both new wedges.

Don't get the DG spinners if you intend on full swings. Crap dispersion.

Has anybody got any experience with the Nippon's? Which shaft do you reckon would be best for fine tuning my distance control? My lack of costs be about 3/4 shots per round...

I have KBS Tours in my wedges and I like them but reading some of these comments makes me wonder if I'm in the right shaft.

Update:

I have decided to book myself in for a custom fitting at the National Fitting Centre at Kings Acre in Edinburgh. This should hopefully help me to select the right shaft, grind and lofts to get the right yardage gapping. Excited is an understatement!

Might even go the full length and get wedge works stamping...

KBS Custom looks good. Plus I like a heavy LW, so these work well. In my SW, I like the DG spinner. Great for hitting the low one hop and check.
