  2. I'm new around here so I'll be polite. I am the OP. Yes, the original question was admittedly pretty stupid. Yet it was a genuine one based on the two options the fitter arrived at. I have no idea where you live and how 'real' your h/cap is. When travelling to various countries I have found that their h/cap system is flawed. Nevertheless, you may be a genuine scratch marker...but you really seem unreasonably upset about these 790s. However, please keep commenting. I am happy to hear any opinion. ps...I got down to a 4 h/cap with these old pieces of crap '17 790s. And that's not taking any b/s drops. Mulligans. Gimmies. Breakfast balls. lol....Breakfast balls?? What the hell...haha. Not saying you do....but sometimes people h/cap provenance is questionable.
  3. Have you been able to try a non-counterbalanced one too? I might not be liked for this, but if your hands are steady, chances are you don't need CB. The longer and (overall) heavier putter doesn't help everyone, so trying a non-CB version might actually help you. 🙂
  4. You can if you want, but I already measured one I have on hand when this came up in the OP's original thread.
  5. About that much. Remember dry fitting in TM TP MC clubheads, the unpainted tip section extended above the hosel. I may still have one unused, I'll have to take a look...

    Masters 2024

Ticket scanning begins at roughly 7am. Merch store is open at 7am. Gate to the course opens at roughly 8am.
  7. I bought the Ai one 2 ball. I felt the most comfortable with it and my putting stroke is consistent with it.
  8. I see usually two extremes. 100- 105 plus. Or the 65-80 crowd. The average stated seems about right to me.
  9. Maltby, irons are great, most people won't even consider them. I won't consider anything else. Tour edge.
  10. I managed to see the bag live (off-white version) and while it looked really nice there also was a feature that I wasn't pleased with. The advertised full-length dividers were not attached to the sides of the bag. This means that only four club slots were fully enclosed while every slot around the perimeter was not. I might still go for this once I get to see the black version as well but it was quite the disappointment.
  11. This brings up a point of recent interest to me. Maybe 5-6 years ago one of the better players in the group I play with (i.e. not a total hack like most of us!) showed me how he plays bunker shots. Lob wedge (his is a 60, I think), wide open face, pretty big swing. He uses that setup for really short bunker shots like you're describing but for the more common longer bunker that's need to fly 15-20 yards he uses the same setup. He says he just swings faster or slower depending on the shot, does it by feel without changing clubs or setup. I thought that was cool but pretty weird. Then a year or so later I went to see my long-time golf coach for, among other things, some help with my bunker game. He puts me in the practice bunker, has me hit a few shots with my sand wedge and says, "Let's try that with some more loft". I hit a couple and he says, "Go ahead and open the face up and accelerate through impact". After a few minutes I realized I was hitting the same shots that crazy guy I play with does, wide open face lob wedge and flying the ball 15 yards. For some reason, after a couple weeks of that I went back to my normal bunker play with the 54-degree and the face open. But I'd go through phases of not being able to get out of bunkers on the first try. So about a year ago I committed to using the open-face lob wedge for any bunker shot of short to medium distance and only switching to a stronger loft SW for the 20+ yarders. And my bunker game is the best it's ever been, I actually get up and down more often than I duff a bunker shot (I know that's pathetic but believe me, it's much better than I was in the past).
  12. Yes. It really is 1.5" And while it might be a bit more than I normally would prep (more lie ~1.25") - it's not really that extreme of an amount of prep work considering the large majority of heads have bore depths of at least 1.25" and use a ferrule.
  13. I have 2 pairs of V3's and prefer them over the V2's.
  14. 2nd shot to #2 -Sunday pin.
  15. There are lots of golfers at 100+ so when there average is 93 there are going to be golfers faster than that and slower than that. How did you measure the golfers at your club? Also were they warmed up before the first tee or straight from the car to the first tee
  16. I think you need at least a 56, and can make it work for everything. However, a lob wedge is nice for hard bunkers and short sided shots.
  17. Oh god, ALL OF THEM! As a Masters fanboy I have dreamt of hitting every shot on that course. If my life depended on a decision, I would have to go with the tee shot at 12 though. Problem is, would I follow the GOAT's advice and aim over the bunker to play safe or take on the right hand pin? 🙂
  18. Oh yeah I totally agree, I have a 60 but don't use it as often as I did when I was a junior - I find I get a better strike with my 56 on a standard chip shot, plus I play a links course. If I played a parkland with heavy rough I can imagine the lobber being used more often. I suppose Rocco has hitting thousands of shots with his 56 and knows exactly how to manipulate the face to get the strike he desires. He probably needs some more heavy goods at the top end of the bag too as he has never hit it that far really - so he gains by dropping the lobber.
  19. What is the loft on your next wedge? I've debated dropping my Lob and 54 Sand for just a 56, but that would leave a 7* gap to my next wedge (49*). I fear that the resulting 49* - 56* gap will fall right in the 85 - 125 yard gap where it seems most of my wedge shots fall.
  20. 56 vs 60 are two very different tools for very different jobs A 56* wedge needs a lot of bounce to be effective for rough and sand and is what most people use for those shots. All of that bounce and the less sharp leading edge makes it less effective to open way up for flop shots on tighter lies, especially in the south where the ground is firm. Having a 60* with a lower bounce is extremely valuable for those that know how to use it, again this is especially true on tighter lies and firmer conditions. I see younger players make the big mistake of using a 60 for everything around the greens and full swing shots too. Surprising that no one has taught them the value of having these clubs set up specifically for different types of shots
  21. Same for Seve. But then it’s also true that tour pro’s who max out at 56 are in a clear minority. Can focus on whichever side suits your POV. I’m not good enough to lay open a 54 out of firm sand to a tight, downhill pin on a firm green stimping 13, where I play. I need that 54 to do a different job. But I am good enough to play that shot with a 60.
  22. I agree. Another scenario is for us that play on crappy courses. While a bigger bounce is often best for most shots, it's hard to use in rock hard packed bunkers that have hardly any sand in them. That's when the low bounce lob wedge needs to come out. A home run 40 yards over the green soon follows.
