Ive seen this guy listing these irons several places. I mean granted, something is worth what someone will pay for it, but that guy is out of his mind if he thinks he is going to get that price. I know MM protos are really hard to come by, but they are still just golf clubs that are basically identical to ones that you can get for less than a grand...

I have been wanting to try a driving iron, but didnt want to take the plunge on a $100+ club that didnt work for me (Fly 2 iron, etc.)

 

So I made my own "driving" iron: VRS Forged 3 iron bent to 18* and an Aldila RIP Tour 90 graphite shaft (plays very stiff, the stiff flex was very stout so I went with regular). I will play this over the next week to see if it performs better than my 5 wood and/or hybrid.

 

 

It looks very forgiving behind the ball:

 

I switched back to the VR_S forged 4-PW last month. Still may be the best irons I've ever played.

Wedge faces can be milled, laser etched, media blasted, etc. to provide some surface roughness in addition to the grooves. The choice depends on the OEM.

 

You need an industrial blast cabinet, some type of blast media and air pressure. I'm not sure what Nike uses or the compressed air PSI to deliver the media to the face. I'm sure there is a ideal blast media (for example aluminum oxide) and air pressure; you would not want to make the wedge non-conforming due to the surface being too rough.

 

On my wedges, I first used some scotch-brite on the toe/heel areas and then taped (blue or green masking tape) everywhere I did not want the blast to hit. In my opinion, it makes a difference on short pitches/chips, basically where you are not compressing the ball.

Headed out to The Memorial to catch the practice round and just got back to slip on the grips (I had them left off as I bought some ProSoft vibration dampening inserts and stuck those in before adding on the custom grips). We have our league over at the club in less than an hour and they are in the bag. I hope you get them soon. They are gorgeous.

LOL! Yeah, this site has made me become very "resourceful" when it comes to buying/swapping out gear :) The difficult thing is she took up the game shortly after meeting me 8 years ago and is now a golf junkie (she just took off for the club where she's the president of the ladies league). She'll probably end up noticing the new sticks because they look different and don't have the photo blue nike grips on them (decided to with the new Golf Pride MMC Plus4's).
