So I made an offer and he accepted on a club on ebay and the ad says ships in 2 days. I message him numerous and get no response until I mention opening a dispute with paypal. Am I crazy for sending a bunch of messages? The guy accepted my offer and told me he's out of town. I don't know why he would accept the offer knowing he's out of town without any communication about it to me. Lol the guy didn't even provide tracking until I was about to open a case.

3 days after the offer was accepted it was shipped. But didn't email me anything for 4 days saying it was shipped

Right?! I emailed him for tracking number and no response either. It's funny how people will reply instantly once paypal dispute is brought up.

I know it's frustrating when there is a lack of communication but he shipped it one day later than the ad said. Not the end of the world. If that's the worst thing that happens to you in a day, be happy.

Yea. I don't know if I'd say the OP was crazy but I think it's a bit of an overreaction.

 

However, as is always the case, a little communication from the seller would have gone a long way.

Surprisingly 100%. He then tells me that emailing him 4 times is a bit much and ridiculous lol. To me no tracking number means it hasn't shipped yet

I agree a bit of an over reaction. Some sellers aren't good with communication.

I've had some that never enter a tracking # and some never even marking the

item as shipped. After a few days I'll ask them if they shipped or not.

 

If I don't get a response I'll wait until the Ebay guesstimate passes and if I

don't receive the item by then I'll open a dispute. Opening a dispute in just

4 days is a bit premature IMO.

Yea I guess but no communication until 3 days after the offer was accepted was a little sketchy. Seemed like the only time I can get a response was to bring up a dispute. To me if you're out of town and accept an offer tell me. If you shipped it try to reply with more than just a yes.

Those shipping times are estimates. While he should have kept you updated, shipping within 3 days is normal.

 

To be honest, if I was the seller I'd be worried that a buyer left me 4 messages. In your shoes I might have messaged on day 4, but to send a message every day is a bit much.

 

 

 

 

This isn't related to you OP, but more and more often I have ebay buyers who will purchase an item from me and in the notes section mention that they need the item within a certain time frame. (usually within 2 to 3 days) That's fine, and I do everything I can to make it work, but I'm used to waiting a week oftentimes. If I need something before that I'll message the seller before buying.

 

 

Edit: I'll add that it's fairly common to not get tracking until a day or two after an item has shipped, or not get tracking at all.

Was it was an automatic acceptance? You can set your ad/auction to automatically accept offers at or above x amount.

OP, for what its worth sometimes life happens. Your seller shipped in a fairly timely manner. Odds are your item is going to arrive soon and I would wager it will be exactly as advertised.

 

Leave him + feedback once it arrives, send a final PM telling him thanks for shipping it out quickly and sorry for seeming to eager, and move on.

I got my item today and could not be happier with it. I have already left positive feedback for you and want to apologize if I seemed to eager in my previous messages. As you can imagine there are a lot of sellers that don't follow through as they should and I was a bit paranoid about our deal. OP, there would be no harm is sending him that message and it will help to make up for what occurred to this point - while still sort of making the point right back at him that his lack of replies actually caused your apprehension.

 

This is just my two cents. In my book he shipped it fast enough but simply didn't let you know. There are FAR worse things a seller can do online.

Yeah it's a bit slow and he could have said something about the delay first, but freaking out and threatening a dispute is no way to respond. eBay timeframes are a crapshoot, if you can't understand that you shouldn't buy there.

After emailing a few times he tells me he's out of town for ten days. Needless to say that's where I left it. Apparently some people aren't motivated to sell what they have for sale.

As long as you received your item as describe as I'm not trying to take sides but many people ave very demanding jobs that require them to travel out of town. This is a main reason why there are some great deals out there as they just don't have to time to play as much golf as they like. It would have been nice to have the seller send you some type of notice of trying to communicate with you as this is something I always try to do with people who have purchased an item from me.

Something like a trailer doesn't usually sell quickly so it was probably listed awhile before you saw it/made an offer on it. Just be patient grasshopper. Your need for something is not an emergency for most people, realize this.

At least he responded. I dont use Paypal on my phone so if i am not near a computer when I win an auction I get perturbed when the seller bombards me about paying, especially when I have 100% feedback for almost 20 years! Give it a little time, and always pay with your CC!

Lol thanks for telling me what happened in my situation. It was posted the day I contacted him and he replied the next day that he would be gone for an extended period of time. Around here stock trailers do sell very fast. If youre not able to actually sell something don't list it until you can.
