I'd buy several dozen from one of the used golf ball companies. Try 'em all, and you'll find something that clicks with you and your swing.

Driver: Mizuno ST-X

FW: TaylorMade Sim2 Ti (5 wood)

Hybrid: PXG Proto

Irons: Srixon ZX-5

Wedges: Taylormade MG2 (54* & 58*)

Putter: Cameron Squareback 2

Try the TOP FLITE D2... I tried it one after i found it, thought it felt fine and definitely wanted to fly straight.

DI - Cobra One Utility - Paderson SLS 110 shaft

You probably already know this but when looking at ball options I think best practice is usually to look at on and around the green first and work backwards.

FYI I don't have a fast swing either and have been using the b330RXS (great ball) since ~2014. Before that I used the TM Tour Preferred. Before that TM Lethals (I think the similar model is the project(a) now?).

I reckon give the b330RX a go. Should reduce spin off the tee to give you distance whilst still being receptive and giving you decent 'feel' around the greens. If you can get your hands on any of the 2014 model for cheap then pull the trigger IMO. I stocked up the on the 2014 RXS when it was cheap.

I have project a, and b330 rx in my stockpile. I've yet to try the rx's but looking forward to playing them.

I agree with the Gamer Soft. If you are rolling the ball on to greens I also suggest the Maxfi Softfli at 2 dozen for $25. I am a 17 HCP and with an 85-90 swing speed and the Gamer Soft is more than enough ball for my game. I would stay away from any true tour ball including the inexpensive Costco K-sig.

But...hey, if, for $30 +/-. you can try the K-sig...you might like it. Worst thing to happen is that you don't like it, and you could give those that you don't use (new, of course) to some of the butthurt people here on this forum, who seem to be unable to buy any for themselves....

I'm going ksig's. Cheap enough to lose and not regret it too much. Urethane cover for more spin that, you and I, as beginners, need around the greens.

If I had to re-pick a ball from day 1 of picking up a golf club...but with the knowledge gained here and personal experience over the last 4 years, I'd buy the best urethane ball I could afford to lose - $30 for 2dz can't be beat if you're buying new, but you'd have to be able to get your hands on some... for a beginner you need the most consistency you can get considering our swings are not consistent.

Wilson 50 Elite if you're looking to spend under 15 per dozen. E6 in the under 30 per dozen range. B330rx in the premium category. Definitely wouldn't hurt to try some k_sigs either.

You will definitely find a little more consistency in the short game if you start playing one model. Bad swings everywhere else are going to get punished, but the BRidgestone balls seem to be the most forgiving

Spin around the greens is one of the last things a beginner should worry about. Finding something that goes straighter and gets up in the air trumps greens idea spin for someone starting out.

Slow swing speed. High handicap. Yet clearly care about your game, or you wouldn't be posting here. I'd recommend a soft distance ball, like a Pinnicle Soft, Wilson Zip, or the sort. An inexpensive ball so it won't hurt when you lose brand new balls. A soft ball that has some feel, even with low spin, as you'll be doing your fair share of chipping. Then use it, for the season, without changing. When beginners simply play any old ball they find, it takes longer to figure out what inconsistency comes from themselves, or their ball...

I do care about my game. I want to be better, make that 23 look more like a 12. I was thinking E6, or B330 rx, but E6 are much cheaper and come in high via orange, which is good for when I whistle them into the bushes.

I'll give the pinnacles a toss though!

One other thought. Buy sleeves of balls and find the right one for you. Any golf course sells sleeve, Golfsmith and even Dicks has been selling them. It's worth the extra money to experiment. There's nothing worse than getting 12 or even a two fer (24) of balls you don't care for. Plus, it's a lot of fun. Ironically, I started with the gamersoft and then began experimenting. In some ways, I wasted some money. But, it also confirmed that Gamersoft was my favorite ball. Everyone's feel and available money is different. I'd buy a variety of sleeves - then you will know!

Golf balls direct has AAA "value bags" of 60 balls for 33 bucks. You can pick the brand.

Until you can really notice a difference I'd do something like this. First order is either 20% off or free shipping I think.

At 50 cents a ball you don't have to be "that guy" that's spending 10 minutes looking for their ball on every other hole.

If you launch it into the crap it's a lot easier not to care so much with a cheapo.

Wilson Staff Duo.

This.

At $20/dz, I think these are some great golf balls. I don't think with a slow swing speed a hard ball is the answer.... slap a DUO around for a round and you will have more fun based on feel alone!!! My buddy is an older guy, 72, slower swing speed and pays the DUOs... get them to check up on the greens and fly straighter than other balls I have seen him play off his driver. Pinnacle softs are good, too, remind me a lot of the DUO.
