2017 Taylormade Flextech Lite Bag Pics.

Recommended Posts

Just got this. The 2017 Taylormade Flextech Lite Bag. There isn't much information out there on it, so thought I would post some pics of it.

Really nice bag. They actually changed quite a few things on it. Lots on cool features like the Flextech stand, insulated water bottle holder, and some interior mesh pockets on the inside of the main pocket. Also, there is access to the club compartment from a zipped opening in the main compartment. So, if you ever drop your keys or balls in the club compartment, you can retrieve them easily. Sadly, I have dropped quite a few things in the club compartment. The bag is just well built and sturdy. Very pleased.

Looks like a Hoofer and 4 Series had a baby

I'm not sure that's a bad thing.

I ended up getting a steal on the new crossover version(14 way w/10" top). I guess they benchmarked the ping bags to design these. I think they all look awesome. I really wanted the lite version as I like the 4 way top but wasn't sure if it would be big enough for 14 clubs with midsize grips.

The 5-way Flextech Carry bag has also caught my interest. May head to a PGATSS to check one out. Checks all the boxes for me.

So I went to the PGATSS today and decided to buy the Lite version instead of the Carry version. I liked the size a little better. The only downsides I could see were: 1) the garment zip is probably not big enough for golf shoes in the Lite, unlike the Carry and 2) the water bottle pocket seems really tight on both. But these are not deal breakers for me as I usually don't put shoes in my bag and use a clip on Vapur water bottle.

I bought the Lite in grey/green on Amazon for $133 plus $12 shipping from a third-party seller. I also saw that rockbottom has free shipping + free $25 gift card and a $30 off code (30FREE, which expires tomorrow), which takes the total down from $189 to $134. Pretty good deals either way.

Very nice. Thanks for posting pictures. Why don't you post a review of it after you've tried it?

Sure.

Here is the short term review. I really like everything about the bag.

First off the Flextech stand is legit. Works well and is sturdy. Seems like the bottom is planted better because there is more surface area.

Carrying the bag is just really comfortable on the back. Straps are comfy and how the bag sits on the back is comfortable as well. No complaints.

The bag is really sturdy. Materials and construction is very good quality. It isn't the lightest bag but personally I don't mind that. I would rather have a good durable bag a little heavier rather than an ultralight bag that falls apart and I have had many that have fallen apart. Also, most of your bag weight is all the stuff you put into the bag so if you really want it light, you can just take out some balls or non-essential items. My bag weighs 25lbs with all the stuff I want in it and carrying it 18 is no problem.

The pocket configuration is very good. I like the type of pockets, how many, and how big they are. Also, it is really nice to have interior mesh pockets in the main pocket. So, some things don't get lost in the main pocket and you don't have to dig for it. I haven't tried the water bottle holder but it is really nice that it is insulated and accessed easily.

My main improvement would be a dedicated laser rangefinder pocket because I use a rangefinder for almost every shot. A good location would be next to the lined valuables pocket near the top. Right now, I use the lined valuables pocket because it is the best pocket for the rangefinder and put my valuables in another pocket, but it still works well.

Time will tell if it will hold up. Generally the first thing to go is the stand and seams, but both are really solid on this bag. So, I expect it to hold up well for a while.

I picked up the regular FlexTech shortly after they were launched in November. I've had a number of TaylorMade bags since 2010 and this is by far the one with the most attention to detail and highest quality materials/construction. It's also the best looking bag they've released IMO.

One thing worth pointing out is that TaylorMade has a promotion going where you can request a free personalized ball pocket panel for any newly purchased FlexTech bag. You just go to a website (http://FreeTMPanel.com), enter which bag you ordered, and they send you a new panel 3 or 4 weeks later. Mine took just over 3 weeks to arrive. Because they send you a new panel, you can always swap the original one back on if you decide you don't want a name later on.

Thanks for the info. I submitted my request for a personalized panel the day I bought my FlexTech Lite. In typical form, they didn't send me any confirmation so I'm wondering if I'll actually get something in a few weeks' time.

You should be good. I was expecting some sort of confirmation, as well, but didn't get one. Mine definitely took between 3-4 weeks to arrive, so I wouldn't count on it coming any earlier.
