Callaway Apex Irons (2014 vs. 2016)

For those who have, if you had the choice between the Apex Pro 14's and the Razr X Forged ('11?) with the same shaft (Project X 5.5 Rifle) which would you go?

Neither if my handicap was 15.9

Handicap is mentality rather than physical. As has been told to me, a lot, I have the swing of a 10, the mentality of a 36.

Issues mainly come from chipping and pitching (lots of chunking and so on) but mostly brain farts on the Tee then not taking my medicine when I do.

Currently playing Wilson Staff FG's w Project X 5.5 and also X Forged 13's with PXi 6.0's. Hit them no problems and accurate.

I forgot I am on wrx where everybody thinks they know whats best for others based on what their handicap is..... *slaps forehead* silly me. *rocks back and forth muttering* must not engage the troll, must not engage the troll.... he has nothing better to do...must not engage the troll

Anyways.....back to what I originally asked if anyone had to choose between Apex Pro 14 vs Razr X forged same shafts which would you choose and if anyone who can give an opinion rather than troll would be appreciated lol :)

I'd suggest the original '14 Apex over either for 16 hdcp

Some combo of any or all:

Ping G400 LST 10* w/ Px Evenflow Blue 75 6.0
Rogue SZ 15* w/ Px Evenflow Blue 75 6.0
Cally 416 19* Hybrid w/ Diamana S+ 82g Stiff
4-PW: Callaway (OG) Apex w/ KBS PGI 80g / Bridgestone J40 Combo 4-P w/ Steelfiber i95 Stiff
52*, 56* Vokey SM5's

60* Wilson Staff

I suggest you get the senior or lady shaft because if you're not hitting fairways and greens you'll never get better... Sorry to burst your bubble but I know too many hardheaded 15+ handicappers that haven't improved in 15 yrs

Sorry if you think you're being picked on bro, but if the situation is what you say you'd be a lot better off spending your $ on playing lessons. No club in the world can cover up for bad strategy or stupid decisions!

All good, part playing part not really caring as I know my game and most don't. It is funny how people who see a cap and automatically assume about someone. I have been through it all before on a local forum here in Aus but when they actually saw me swing and play they got it and understood that I can play these types of players CB's (its why I have never gone anywhere near a MB or Blade although I would love too because I know I don't have the game for them.). To this day I still keep getting called sandbagger by them because my cap flatters me.

As said my problem is swing off the tee and trying to pound it as far as I can and getting out of synch. If I do get off the Fairway then I don't take my medicine and punch out take the bogey and walk off. Instead I try the Phil Mickelson shot on 13 @ Augusta miracle shot every time and then when it doesn't pay off I do it again and then easily card an 8. When every card down here is attested in comp its not that hard to see why my scores are the way they are. Nothing to do with Irons.

I find the middle of my irons fairly easily (as found out with the FG Tours(older version) as they are as unforgiving a club as I have played so far). I have had all types of players including pro shop staff look at me and shake their head because I should be so much lower than I play. (Wont tell you what they said when I carded a 3 over par 9 for 25 pts not too long ago).

My problem is my competitive nature and juices getting the better of me trying to do things I can't. Couple this with over swing\over power\over strengthen the club rather than let it do the work and me just swing within myself you can see why. I can go out and shoot 84-86 (funnily enough with the razr x forged when I did own a set) one week and then back it up the next with 100 because I get cocky and over confident and think I am the greatest player. As said its a huge mental thing with me and not a swing issue. I have been working on it the last 6 months after blowing out to 20 cap and slowly but surely bringing it back into 15 and trending down still.

I didn't want to go into full life story but there you go lol. My issue is not playing, hitting and swinging these types of clubs. My problem is keeping focus and control and no club is ever going to help with that nor on course lessons etc. Psychologist maybe but that's a whole different kettle of fish :)

Anyways didn't want to derail thread but there you go :)
