Head moving toward target on DS

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty inconsistent, and I think it's due in large part to my head moving toward the target as my first move down. It's easy to say "don't move your head", but I'm apparently not coordinated enough to keep my freaking head still. So what should the first move down be? Everything I try looks the same. Any advice is appreciated!

late wrist set and arms are flat and get behind you on your BS - you never get them back in front in transition - vertical wrist set needed after club parallel in takeaway and arms need to move more up than around. Don't see a lot of head movement - never appears you get it ahead of the ball or forward of setup position. Good luck, I'm going back to eating cheetos in my mom's basement (with apologies to PTM).

I guess I don't understand my arms in relation to my body. I've always thought of that in terms of how steep or flat my BS is.

I know I'm not super upright here, but I just don't understand how my hands can be above my right shoulder at the top but I can still have my arms behind me.

I know I'm missing something...

could be video angle - are they really above the shoulder? - doesn't look it on the face on - but in watching the video you never get your arms out in front of you in transition - right elbow stays behind and looks like you drop your arms in transition and don't move them out from face on - here is p6 - hands should be at right thigh but are clearly back. Fix BS makes transition easier to get arms in front or fix transition where arms need to work out more. Kind of thing to see someone in person or video lesson.

Your takeaway is:

- all hands and not enough pivot.

- your hands are moving away from your body in the BS excessively.

Especially early on in the backswing try to keep your hands around the same distance from your chest that you had at address. When your hands are in front of your chest and not ahead or behind your turn .... that's called Connected :)

This video has some good ideas for you to think about.

For the DTL footage, try to be at waist height ... on the toe line (not towards the ball-target line).

You want to keep the golfer in the middle of the image to avoid parallax etc.

Head movement isn't the issue.

More hip and shoulder turn in the backswing. Lose some flex in the right knee. Integrate that was some wrist set in the backswing.

Right elbow needs to move more forward and less down to start the downswing. A little more early squat or pressure shift and a little less rotation o father hips to,start the downswing.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

"Don't move your head" is one of the biggest misconceptions in golf. The head really serves no purpose in the swing. It goes where the body takes it.

be really wierd if it didnt do that

position advice tend to be bad

Knows the secret to the golf swing to own it.
