Falcon golf Inc?

Found a putter at the local Goodwill. Anser style, SS or chrome plated mirror finish stamped Falcon Golf Inc., Pleasant Ridge, Mi. Inlay script lettering in back cavity Buick Open 1988. Will post pics later. A promo thing perhaps? Not much luck doing a web search so far. Thanks in advance.

Falcon Golf?

Pleasant Ridge is located north of Detroit on Woodward Avenue...

Not too far from where Scratch Golf moved (Berkeley, MI) from Chattanooga, TN

..and possibly near Bella's back yard.

Thanks guys. My curiosity got the best of me so I called a couple of local courses in Pleasant Ridge. No luck on the Falcon Golf, but one place said they had been a local qualifier for the Buick back in that time frame.

New Member here. I saw you where talking about Falcon Golf. I was actually looking to see if they were still in business. Back in the 80's they used to advertise in SI. Fill out their survey on your golf game, swing, and the measuremnt of your fingers' digits. They would make you a 5 iron for $20 bucks or so. I bought the 5 iron. A month later I bought the irons and a year later I bought their woods and still use them today. They helped my golf game by 5-10 strokes by hitting the ball straighter.

The check was deposited on Liberty Bank Oakland, Troy Mi.

My guess is that the putter was one of the clubs made by them. The Irons have on their back FALCON in block print. To the left of the F is a Circle with a crest inside it.

Falcon golf inc. was a company located on Woodward Ave. in Pleasant Ridge Michigan.
They made custom clubs to fit your specs. from sometime in the 70's until the early 90's.

Thad Gutowski was the owner/founder of the company.

I have hit a set of falcon irons for the last 16-17 years. (i'm 33, got these at age 16 used for $50/set 3-pw). I have tried to replace these over the years with taylor made and mizuno irons...I go back to these because i hit nothing better. I have reshafted with rifle shafts and winn grips.
My particular model was made in 3 finishes. (chrome, black and BeCu)

Mine is a later model but many of the earlier models feature a falcon logo (shield/falcon)

Outside of metro Detroit no ones usually knows what they are. Pics to come soon as I figure out how to upload them here.

OSR, see a fair amount of Falcon clubs here in s.e. MI. Lots of irons, although don't find them to be anything special apperance wise. Buick Open was held at Warwick Hills C. C. In Grand Blanc, MI, about 10 miles from home. Saw many a tournament there over the years, lots of fun seeing the pros up close. Hole #17 was pretty raucous (many well "fueled" spectators).....long before the Phoenix Open notoriety.

However, today there was something different. Hidden behind a lot of riff-raft was this:

Don't know how it will hit, but it sure is pretty. Half off sale day, $1.99.

Also found a TPM 12 (later gen. that's powder coated with the short yellow sight line) for $2.49.

After a brief retirement from the golf biz, Thad Gutowski, the original owner of Falcon Golf which began in 1974, redesigned the golf club in 2014. The new club is available locally in Michigan and is sold online. Over 9,000 sets of the original clubs were built with many still in use today....more info can be found by googling the Hubbard Lake Golf Shop and Falcon Pure Custom irons.....

Falcon Golf...a name I haven't heard in many years.

 

My boss, the HP where I worked in the early 70's, always got the newest clubs, and he had a set of the original Falcon woods & irons. He didn't care much for the woods, but played the irons for a while. For him, "a while" was more than a week.

I have a putter in my shop like the one pictured in the original post. Have no idea where it came from, but it's been in my club "accumulation" for years. An engraving on the inside of the cavity reads "SHOGUN, MGEN USMC 1951-84". The sole is stamped with "Falcon Golf, Inc., Ferndale, MI 43220", and "24 KT Gold". Would appreciate any comments on the possible history of this putter, and especially regarding the likelihood that it is really 24KT Gold.

Don't know anything about the putter but, an "MGEN" is a MAJOR GENERAL (2 STAR) in the USMC.
